If you prioritize a lightweight and sleek design, and you value a touch screen with a higher resolution display for everyday tasks and media consumption, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" is a solid option, despite its higher price. On the other hand, if performance, especially for tasks like photo and video editing, software development, or light gaming is a priority, and you're looking for better value for money, then the MSI Prestige 14 might be the more suitable choice. It typically offers more powerful hardware and a variety of ports for connectivity but sacrifices some portability and battery life compared to the Surface Laptop. Remember, with the MSI, you might compromise on display quality and build compared to the premium feel of the Surface Laptop. Give Feedback

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" has a better screen than the MSI Prestige 14 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, both the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 and the MSI Prestige 14 offer screens with clear resolution and ample brightness that make browsing, video streaming, and document editing a pleasant experience. In engineering and design tasks where accurate color representation is crucial, their screens have a color range that covers a broad spectrum but may not satisfy the highest professional standards for color-sensitive work. However, for gaming and 3D applications that benefit from fast screen updates, neither laptop screen offers the high refresh rates preferred by enthusiasts, making them less ideal for this use case despite having decent resolution and quality.

How the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" and the MSI Prestige 14 compare to other laptops
"The Surface Laptop 5 remains afloat as a solid machine. It's just not one that stands out in any particular way. Just like the last one. The biggest upgrade were some new components, but they perform in the same range as other laptops with them, and frequently at the bottom of that range. I suspect Microsoft's settings are very conservative to help keep cooling and battery life within reason in the older chassis design."
"The MSI Prestige 14” is excellent for productivity and business use cases, but it is not ideal for creators or visual content editors. The Prestige was able to power through days of email, spreadsheets, and text documents without breaking a sweat and was a joy to use. The additional ports were a breath of fresh air, as most laptops seem to be moving towards just Thunderbolt ports. The security options made signing in effortless, with two quick, more secure, and faster options than even the most complex alphanumeric passcode."
