Consider the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" if you prioritize a lightweight, slim laptop with a higher resolution and taller aspect ratio screen for productivity tasks. It has a solid build and good battery life, making it suitable for general use and business tasks on the go. On the other hand, the MSI GF65 Thin, while less portable due to its larger size and weight, offers a dedicated graphics card that outperforms the integrated graphics in the Surface Laptop, making it a better fit for gaming, 3D applications, or machine learning tasks. It also has a high refresh rate screen which is preferred for gaming. However, if you plan on doing extended work without an outlet, the Microsoft might be a wiser choice owing to its better battery performance. Give Feedback

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" has a better screen than the MSI GF65 Thin for general use, engineering and design, software development, and content creation, while the MSI GF65 Thin has a better screen for gaming and AI.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" likely offers a high-resolution display with vibrant colors and brightness, catering well to general use and detailed engineering tasks which necessitate precise color representation and clarity. However, it may be lacking in a high refresh rate, which is critical for smooth visuals in gaming and 3D applications, making it less suitable for those needs. On the other hand, the MSI GF65 Thin, while offering a balanced display for everyday tasks and technical work, might not excel in any specific area due to average color range and refresh rate, resulting in an overall fair performance for various uses but not particularly optimized for high-end gaming or professional design tasks.

How the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" and the MSI GF65 Thin compare to other laptops
"The Surface Laptop 5 remains afloat as a solid machine. It's just not one that stands out in any particular way. Just like the last one. The biggest upgrade were some new components, but they perform in the same range as other laptops with them, and frequently at the bottom of that range. I suspect Microsoft's settings are very conservative to help keep cooling and battery life within reason in the older chassis design."
"The MSI GF65 Thin offers a GeForce RTX 3060 on a budget. The MSI GF65 is a relatively inexpensive RTX 3060 laptop and, perhaps not coincidentally, it also comes with a slower-than-average RTX 3060 GPU. Other laptops we've tested thus far with the same GPU are about 10 to 15 percent faster. CPU performance is also slightly slower than average unless if users decide to enable Cooler Boost mode. Colors, black-white response times, Thunderbolt, and DisplayPort are either average or completely omitted. Gamers who want to maximize performance-per-dollar without sacrificing RAM or SSD upgradeability will find the lightweight MSI GF65 attractive."
