The LG Gram 16 is lighter and offers longer battery life, making it well-suited for general use and highly portable. If price is a major concern, it's also more affordable, but its performance for intensive tasks like 3D rendering or engineering won't match that of the MSI Raider GE77Hx. The MSI is a powerhouse with a high-end graphics card and a faster processor suitable for gaming, machine learning, and other demanding applications. However, it's heavier and has a shorter battery life which makes it less ideal for frequent travel. The higher cost of the MSI reflects its performance capabilities. Choose the LG Gram 16 for everyday portability and tasks, or the MSI Raider GE77Hx if you need a laptop for high-performance activities and you're less concerned about portability and price. The MSI Raider GE77Hx is very good for gaming and AI, while the LG Gram 16 is only fair.
The LG Gram 16, while fair for gaming and 3D due to its integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics and standard 60Hz display refresh rate, lacks the powerful discrete Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti GPU and high 240Hz screen refresh rate found in the MSI Raider GE77Hx, which are very important for those activities. Additionally, the MSI Raider GE77Hx offers a more robust CPU, which is somewhat important for gaming and 3D performance, complementing its superior screen quality and solidifying its stature as very good for gaming and 3D tasks.

The MSI Raider GE77Hx has a better screen than the LG Gram 16 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
The LG Gram's strength in screen quality for general use and engineering lies in its resolution and panel type, which provide clear, crisp visuals and accurate colors, making it suitable for tasks like browsing and design where color precision matters. However, it falls short for gaming and 3D because of its lower refresh rate, which is less conducive to the fast-paced motion found in games. In contrast, the MSI Raider, while also offering high-resolution and quality panel type for sharp images and good color reproduction, isn't optimal for gaming due to similarly limited refresh rate, which is less smooth for fast-moving 3D content.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers MSI Raider GE77Hx to be very good for general use, while the LG Gram 16 is good.
The LG Gram 16, with a lighter build and longer battery life, offers portability and prolonged use suitable for everyday tasks, while the MSI Raider GE77Hx, with a more powerful processor, more storage, and a focus on gaming may lead to better performance but at the cost of heavier weight and shorter battery life. Screen quality is high for both, but those prioritizing a larger screen and a laptop more capable of heavy workloads despite less battery life may prefer the MSI, whereas users who value portability and longer casual use might lean towards the LG Gram.

How the LG Gram 16 and the MSI Raider GE77Hx compare to other laptops
"The LG Gram 16 is a lightweight device with stability issues. The LG Gram 16Z90Q with a Core i7-1260P is made with portability in mind and places less of a focus on users with high demands on performance. The compact and light chassis is particularly practical when you are on the go. The device is not only comfortably small and lightweight, it also boasts a great battery life. When connected to mains, on the other hand, the 16-inch device is rather disappointing. The standard cooling mode causes extreme volatility in terms of CPU, SSD and iGPU performance. The meager stability of the chassis may also put off some potential buyers."
"The MSI Raider GE77 offers a lot of power for a lot of money. The main components consist of a Core i9-12900HX CPU, a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU (175 watts TGP, 16 GB VRAM), and 64 GB of RAM, which makes for a high overall performance level. The GeForce GPU in particular scores some of the highest scores we have seen from this chip. Both the CPU and the GPU are able to run at continuously high clock speeds. The relatively high heat and noise emissions match our expectations for this device class. With approximately 5.5 to 6.5 hours, the battery life is good for a powerful 4K laptop."
