The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 is a premium laptop with a larger, higher-resolution OLED screen, more storage, and better build quality, making it better suited for demanding tasks such as engineering and 3D rendering, as well as providing a superior keyboard. However, it is heavier and has a shorter battery life than the ThinkBook 13s, which may be more appealing if you prioritize portability and longer usage on a single charge. The ThinkBook 13s offers a balance of performance and portability at a more affordable price, ideal for general use and lighter engineering tasks. Both devices feature a high-quality touchscreen display and are suitable for occasional gaming, but for intensive tasks and better screen performance, the ThinkPad Z16 stands out, albeit with a heftier price tag and less portability. The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 is very good for general use, while the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s is good.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 boasts a superior main processor, more RAM, and an OLED screen, which translates into smooth multitasking, better visual performance, and a vivid display, making it very good for general use. On the other hand, the ThinkBook 13s offers a lighter build and longer battery life, which enhances portability and usability on the go, contributing to its good rating for general use but not matching the Z16's higher resource capabilities.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 is very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s is good.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 outshines the ThinkBook 13s for engineering and design due to its superior AMD Ryzen 7 processor, ample 32 GB RAM, and a discrete AMD graphics card, along with an OLED screen that offers higher resolution and color accuracy, which are very important for intensive tasks and vibrant visual precision. While the ThinkBook 13s is lighter and more portable with a high-quality keyboard, its integrated Intel graphics and lower RAM at 16 GB make it less optimal than the Z16 for demanding engineering software and detailed design work where top-tier CPU, GPU, and screen quality are crucial.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 has a better screen than the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, a laptop with a high-resolution, bright display and a panel type that provides good color representation and viewing angles, like the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16, is preferable for a pleasing visual experience. In engineering and design, professionals value color accuracy and a panel that covers a wider color gamut, which is why a screen excelling in these areas, as does the ThinkPad Z16, is superior. However, for gaming and 3D work where motion clarity is key, a screen with a high refresh rate takes priority, and since neither the ThinkPad Z16 nor the ThinkBook 13s excel in this regard, they are not optimal choices for those specific tasks.

How the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 and the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s compare to other laptops
"Lenovo’s ThinkPad Z16 tries has some success in its effort to tweak the ThinkPad formula. The laptop is attractive, yet still tame, and material quality is on par with the best Windows competition. I also like the smooth, responsive haptic touchpad and the wide range of modern connectivity. Yet the Z16 doesn’t fix ThinkPad’s typical weakness: value. Starting around $1,550, and more typically near $1,700, the Z16 finds itself facing alternatives that have better performance or an improved display for the same price, or less."
"The best thing about the ThinkBook 13S is that it’s a good deal. Business buyers looking for ThinkPad-level performance and software without ThinkPad pricing will probably find the ThinkBook a solid option. While nothing about it is really spectacular, it’s certainly unusual to see the ThinkBook’s screen resolution at a sub-$1,000 price, and its performance will be more than adequate for most office tasks. The generous port selection, 16:10 aspect ratio, physical webcam shutter, and clear audio are certainly icing on the cake."
