The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 is often significantly less expensive and offers great performance for general use with a very high-quality OLED screen that has touchscreen capabilities, making it suitable for professionals who appreciate a premium business laptop with a good balance of performance and portability. On the other hand, the MSI Raider GE78, while often significantly more expensive, is a powerhouse suited for intensive gaming, 3D rendering, and engineering tasks with its superior graphics and processing capabilities, as well as a higher refresh rate screen for smooth visuals, but is less portable due to its larger size and heavier weight. If cost and portability are priorities, and your tasks are more business-oriented, the Lenovo is a good fit. If peak performance for gaming and resource-intensive tasks is essential and budget is less of a concern, the MSI is the better option. Give Feedback

The MSI Raider GE78 is best in class for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 is only fair.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16, with its AMD RX 6500M graphics, is suitable for some gaming and 3D work but falls short of the more powerful Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics found in the MSI Raider GE78, making the latter better equipped for demanding gaming and 3D applications. Furthermore, the Raider GE78's much higher screen refresh rate enhances the gaming experience with smoother visuals compared to the lower rate of the ThinkPad Z16.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 has a better screen than the MSI Raider GE78 for general use, and engineering and design, while the MSI Raider GE78 has a better screen for gaming and AI, content creation, and software development.
If you prioritize a clear and vibrant display for everyday tasks, the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16's high resolution and brightness will suffice, while its color accuracy benefits professionals in engineering and design. The MSI Raider GE78 offers similar benefits for general and professional use, with both laptops displaying rich colors that enhance work on detailed projects. However, for gaming or 3D applications, neither laptop's refresh rate is high enough to ensure the smoothest visuals, which might reduce the satisfaction for fast-action scenes or high-speed rendering.

How the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 and the MSI Raider GE78 compare to other laptops
"Lenovo’s ThinkPad Z16 tries has some success in its effort to tweak the ThinkPad formula. The laptop is attractive, yet still tame, and material quality is on par with the best Windows competition. I also like the smooth, responsive haptic touchpad and the wide range of modern connectivity. Yet the Z16 doesn’t fix ThinkPad’s typical weakness: value. Starting around $1,550, and more typically near $1,700, the Z16 finds itself facing alternatives that have better performance or an improved display for the same price, or less."
"Performance-wise, the GE78 offers a significant boost over the GE77 for just slightly higher power consumption. You'll have to get the RTX 4080 or 4090 configurations to see the performance advantages, however, as the RTX 4070 is closer in performance to the older RTX 3080 Ti. In terms of design, some users might prefer the 16:9 minimalistic look of the older GE77 over the 16:10 retro-inspired GE78 and vice versa. We wouldn't call one better than the other in terms of aesthetics, but we'll give the edge to the GE78 for its stronger hinges and larger keys and clickpad."
