The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is often less expensive, offering solid gaming performance with a high refresh rate screen, making it suitable for intensive gaming. It also has a longer battery life. On the other hand, the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 is more expensive, with a premium OLED touchscreen and a higher screen resolution and color accuracy, which is ideal for professional and creative work. While the ThinkPad Z16 has more storage and RAM, the Legion Slim 7 is equipped with a more powerful dedicated graphics card. Therefore, if you prioritize gaming or GPU-intensive tasks, the Legion Slim 7 would be a better fit, whereas the ThinkPad Z16 caters more to business professionals and creatives needing a high-quality display and touch capability. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16" is very good for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 is only fair.
The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16" is very good for gaming and 3D tasks thanks to its Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics card and high screen refresh rate of 240 Hz, which allows for smoother visuals in fast-paced games. In contrast, the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16, while still good for these tasks with its AMD RX 6500M GPU, has a lower screen refresh rate of 60 Hz which may not deliver as fluid an experience in gaming or intense 3D applications.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 has a better screen than the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 has a better screen for general use, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Lenovo Legion Slim 7's screen delivers clear images and vivid colors suitable for everyday tasks and professional work in engineering and design, thanks to its high resolution and range of color representation. However, its lower refresh rate makes it less ideal for gaming and 3D applications, where smooth motion is crucial. Contrastingly, the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 stands out in engineering and design due to its enhanced color accuracy and broader color gamut, but like the Legion Slim 7, it falls short for gaming and 3D purposes due to a similar limitation in refresh rate.

How the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16" and the Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is a slim Legion notebook that is just as excellent with Nvidia & Intel. However, the Legion Slim 7i slightly sullied by lacklustre battery life. You get a slim aluminium chassis, great input devices, decent port selection, fast high-quality WQXGA display and great performance. Supporting Thunderbolt 4 is one advantage of the Intel/Nvidia model tested in this review. Moreover, this variant has slightly higher CPU performance as well as better GPU performance in certain applications (e.g. CUDA-based apps). The Lenovo Legion S7i is thin, premium and performant – but less efficient than its AMD counterpart."
"Lenovo’s ThinkPad Z16 tries has some success in its effort to tweak the ThinkPad formula. The laptop is attractive, yet still tame, and material quality is on par with the best Windows competition. I also like the smooth, responsive haptic touchpad and the wide range of modern connectivity. Yet the Z16 doesn’t fix ThinkPad’s typical weakness: value. Starting around $1,550, and more typically near $1,700, the Z16 finds itself facing alternatives that have better performance or an improved display for the same price, or less."
