For a balance of performance and value, the Lenovo Legion 5 15" is a strong contender. It offers a solid midrange price point with a capable AMD Ryzen 7 processor and Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics, making it suitable for gaming and engineering tasks without breaking the bank. The 1440p IPS display with a 165Hz refresh rate is great for fast-paced motion, though it lacks touch capability. Its portability is a plus, with a more compact design and longer battery life compared to the MSI Raider 18 HX. On the other hand, if budget is less of a concern and you're seeking top-tier performance, the MSI Raider 18 HX stands out with its high-end Intel i9 processor and superior Nvidia RTX 4080 graphics, ensuring exceptional performance for the most demanding tasks in 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming. The larger 18-inch Mini LED display with 4K resolution and touchscreen functionality provides an unparalleled visual experience, albeit at the cost of portability due to its larger size and significantly higher weight. It also comes with premium features like a built-in fingerprint reader and facial recognition for enhanced security. In summary, choose the Lenovo Legion 5 15" for a more affordable and portable option with strong performance for general use and moderate gaming or engineering tasks. Opt for the MSI Raider 18 HX if you prioritize elite performance, a superior display, and are willing to compromise on portability and price. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Andreas Osthoff | September 2021
"The Lenovo Legion 5 15 is an affordable gaming laptop with a lot of power. The new AMD processor Ryzen 7 5800H offers plenty of performance and it is also very efficient. The combination with the fast 130W version of the GeForce RTX 3060 ensures high gaming performance. We also like the fast 165 Hz display with the 1080p resolution. The automatic graphics switching causes some problems with stutters, which are very annoying. If you do not need long battery runtimes, you should definitely deactivate the hybrid graphics mode in Lenovo's Vantage app. The Legion 5 15 is never silent."
