The Lenovo Legion 5 15" offers better performance suitable for intensive tasks such as gaming or engineering due to its more powerful processor and graphics card. However, it is less portable given its heavier weight and larger size. The MSI Modern 14, on the other hand, is more affordable, lightweight, and compact, making it a good choice for general use and better suited for carrying around. Its performance is sufficient for everyday tasks, but it may struggle with more demanding applications. Consider the importance of portability and performance for your needs when making your decision. Give Feedback

The Lenovo Legion 5 15" is very good for engineering and design, while the MSI Modern 14 is only fair.
The Lenovo Legion 5 15" surpasses the MSI Modern 14 in engineering and design uses primarily due to its superior CPU, the AMD Ryzen 7, a powerful Nvidia RTX GPU, and a high-resolution screen, which are crucial for performance-intensive tasks. In contrast, although the MSI Modern 14 offers great portability with a lighter build and is sufficient for basic engineering tasks, it lags in computing power with its AMD Ryzen 5 CPU and integrated Vega 7 GPU, and it also features a lower-resolution screen.

The Lenovo Legion 5 15" has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the Lenovo Legion 5, with its superior panel, resolution, and brightness, provides vibrant and clear visuals, making it an excellent choice for everyday tasks and media consumption. In contrast, the MSI Modern 14 offers a satisfactory experience suitable for basic use, but it may not be as bright or sharp as the Legion. When it comes to engineering and design, the Legion's better color gamut supports a more accurate color representation for professional work, while the MSI might not reproduce colors as faithfully; however, for gaming and 3D, the Legion falls short due to a lower refresh rate, which is crucial for smooth motion, whereas the MSI similarly struggles in this regard, neither offering the optimal experience for high-frame-rate gaming.

How the Lenovo Legion 5 15" and the MSI Modern 14 compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo Legion 5 15 is an affordable gaming laptop with a lot of power. The new AMD processor Ryzen 7 5800H offers plenty of performance and it is also very efficient. The combination with the fast 130W version of the GeForce RTX 3060 ensures high gaming performance. We also like the fast 165 Hz display with the 1080p resolution. The automatic graphics switching causes some problems with stutters, which are very annoying. If you do not need long battery runtimes, you should definitely deactivate the hybrid graphics mode in Lenovo's Vantage app. The Legion 5 15 is never silent."

"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
