The Lenovo Legion 5 17" offers better performance, especially for gaming, 3D modeling, and engineering, but at a higher price and with less portability due to its larger size and lower battery life. The MSI Modern 14 is more budget-friendly, lighter, and has a longer battery life, making it suitable for general use and more portable, but performs less well in intensive tasks. The Lenovo's larger screen and higher refresh rate might benefit gaming and multimedia, while the MSI's more compact size may appeal to those who prioritize mobility and lower costs. Give Feedback

The Lenovo Legion 5 17" is good for engineering and design, while the MSI Modern 14 is only fair.
The Lenovo Legion 5 17" is highly suited for engineering and design thanks to its robust CPU, ample RAM, dedicated Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU, and large high-quality screen, which facilitate intensive tasks and detailed visuals. In contrast, the MSI Modern 14, while more portable and with a similar amount of RAM, has a less powerful integrated GPU and smaller screen, making it less ideal for demanding engineering software and multitasking.

The Lenovo Legion 5 17" has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
The Lenovo Legion 5 17" offers a larger screen and higher resolution that benefits both general use and detailed engineering or design tasks, ensuring text and visuals are sharp and clear, while its suboptimal refresh rate lessens the experience for fast-paced gaming and 3D applications. The MSI Modern 14's smaller size and fair screen quality provide satisfactory visuals for everyday tasks and some design work, but the limited color gamut may not render colors as accurately as professional design software might require. Neither laptop has the high refresh rate needed for smooth rendering of 3D graphics, which could impact the gaming and animation experience.

How the Lenovo Legion 5 17" and the MSI Modern 14 compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo Legion 5 17 is a current-gen 17-inch gaming laptop and equipped with the latest AMD CPU and a powerful GPU, that manages to reach its full potential. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600H is a very good choice for this laptop and able to maintain its performance level for long periods of time. Our test model only falls behind consistently in a direct comparison with its competitors that are often equipped with eight cores and 16 threads. Despite this, the Legion 5 17 leaves an excellent impression and is almost able to keep up with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 mobile GPU in synthetic benchmarks."
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
