If you prioritize a higher-resolution screen and a laptop geared more toward performance in engineering tasks or creative work with better color coverage, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is the suitable choice, albeit at a higher cost. On the other hand, the MSI Modern 14 is more budget-friendly and offers decent performance for general use and portability, but it lags behind in screen quality and is less capable for demanding engineering software, 3D rendering, or machine learning applications. Neither laptop is ideal for intensive gaming, and both feature backlit keyboards and similar portability. Give Feedback

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro offers a vibrant display with high resolution and brightness, making it easier on the eyes during daily tasks, whereas the MSI Modern 14's display, while adequate, may not be as sharp or bright. When it comes to engineering and design work, the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro's wider color gamut coverage ensures more accurate color representation which is critical for those applications, while the Modern 14 may not reproduce colors with the same fidelity. However, for 3D and gaming, the IdeaPad falls short due to its lower refresh rate, which can affect the smoothness of motion; meanwhile, the Modern 14 also lacks a high refresh rate, making neither ideal for those fast-paced visual requirements.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro and MSI Modern 14 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro offers a better gaming and 3D experience due to its higher screen refresh rate and more powerful Intel Iris Xe graphics, compared to the MSI Modern 14 which has a lower refresh rate and AMD Vega 7 graphics. While both laptops have sufficient processing power and display quality for moderate use, their GPUs are not top-tier for gaming, and their screens, while adequate, don't meet the highest standards for refresh rates and visual fidelity typically desired by serious gamers.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro and the MSI Modern 14 compare to other laptops
"The main selling point of the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro versus a regular IdeaPad Slim 7 is its faster Core H-series CPU. In reality, the Core i7-11370H is only marginally faster than the U-series Core i7-1165G7 to the point where most users are not likely to notice the benefits. The slight performance uptick comes at the cost of slightly higher power consumption as well meaning owners will have to deal with potentially warmer temperatures or louder fans to compensate. Unless if you happen to be a power user, then the regular non-Pro model will be more than enough. Once you go 90 Hz, you can't go back."
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
