The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is more portable with a better battery life, making it suitable for on-the-go use and general tasks. It has a higher resolution touchscreen display, which is great for productivity and media consumption, with a more color-accurate screen for tasks like photo editing. On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion 5 17" is bulkier and has a shorter battery life but offers superior performance for gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning thanks to its more powerful processor and dedicated graphics card. It also has a larger screen with a high refresh rate that appeals to gamers, plus additional features like hardware ray tracing and DLSS. Both laptops have 16GB of RAM and ample connectivity options, but the IdeaPad is a premium business laptop with a lower price, while the Legion is a dedicated gaming laptop that is somewhat more expensive. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro has a better screen than the Lenovo Legion 5 17" for general use, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro excels in general use and engineering with a high-resolution display and bright screen, providing crisp and clear visuals, as well as wide color coverage that ensures accurate color representation for design work. However, its screen falters for gaming and 3D tasks due to a lower refresh rate, which doesn't provide as smooth motion as gaming-optimized screens. The Lenovo Legion 5 17" offers suitable quality for both general tasks and engineering with decent resolution and color accuracy, but like the Slim 7i Pro, it's held back in gaming and 3D applications by a less than ideal refresh rate.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro and the Lenovo Legion 5 17" compare to other laptops
"The main selling point of the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro versus a regular IdeaPad Slim 7 is its faster Core H-series CPU. In reality, the Core i7-11370H is only marginally faster than the U-series Core i7-1165G7 to the point where most users are not likely to notice the benefits. The slight performance uptick comes at the cost of slightly higher power consumption as well meaning owners will have to deal with potentially warmer temperatures or louder fans to compensate. Unless if you happen to be a power user, then the regular non-Pro model will be more than enough. Once you go 90 Hz, you can't go back."
"The Lenovo Legion 5 17 is a current-gen 17-inch gaming laptop and equipped with the latest AMD CPU and a powerful GPU, that manages to reach its full potential. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600H is a very good choice for this laptop and able to maintain its performance level for long periods of time. Our test model only falls behind consistently in a direct comparison with its competitors that are often equipped with eight cores and 16 threads. Despite this, the Legion 5 17 leaves an excellent impression and is almost able to keep up with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 mobile GPU in synthetic benchmarks."
