The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 offers a lower midrange price, making it a more budget-friendly option with a larger storage capacity at 512GB compared to the Surface Laptop's 256GB. It's equipped with an AMD Ryzen 3 7330U processor and integrated Vega 6 graphics, which are suitable for general use and some light gaming or engineering tasks. The 15.6-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a 60Hz refresh rate is touch-enabled, providing versatility for users who prefer tactile interaction. It's also more portable than some competitors, with a decent battery life of around 10 hours for typical usage.
On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 6 15" commands a midrange price and boasts superior performance with an Intel Core Ultra 7 165H processor and dedicated Intel Arc 8-Cores graphics, catering well to more demanding tasks in 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering. Its high-resolution 15-inch IPS display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate offers vibrant colors and smooth visuals, which is excellent for professionals who require precision and high screen quality. The Surface Laptop also scores higher in build quality, keyboard comfort, and has a better webcam and speakers. It includes modern connectivity options and supports USB-C charging.
In summary, if you prioritize budget and general productivity tasks, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is a solid choice. However, if you're looking for a laptop with superior performance for demanding applications, a higher-quality display, and a premium build, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 6 15" is the way to go, despite its higher price point and smaller storage capacity out of the box. Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
