The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is significantly more affordable but offers moderate performance that's suitable for general use like web browsing, office work, and streaming. It's lightweight, easy to carry, and provides a decent battery life, making it practical for everyday mobility. However, its capabilities for demanding tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming are limited.
On the other hand, the MSI Stealth GS77 comes at a premium cost but is tailored for high performance, handling intensive engineering tasks, 3D/machine learning applications, and gaming with ease. It has a larger, high-refresh-rate display and better graphics power. While its battery life and portability are not as favorable as the IdeaPad Slim 3's, if performance is a priority, the Stealth GS77 is the superior choice. Keep in mind though, it's heavier and not as convenient to move around with. Give Feedback

The MSI Stealth GS77 is very good for general use, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is good.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 has modest components like AMD Ryzen 3, 8GB RAM, and a 1080p IPS display, which are adequate for general tasks but may not handle intensive applications smoothly, all packaged in a lightweight and portable design with average battery life. In contrast, the MSI Stealth GS77 boasts a powerful Intel i7 processor, 32GB RAM, and a higher-resolution screen, delivering superior performance for demanding software, with the trade-offs being less portability due to its larger size and weight, as well as reduced battery life despite a larger capacity, due to its more power-hungry components.

The MSI Stealth GS77 is good for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is poor.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 has a lower-end integrated GPU and a screen with a standard refresh rate, which makes it only fair for gaming and 3D applications. In contrast, the MSI Stealth GS77 boasts a high-end dedicated GPU and a screen with a high refresh rate, rendering it very suitable for demanding gaming and 3D scenarios.

The MSI Stealth GS77 is very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is only fair.
The MSI Stealth GS77 outperforms the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 for engineering and design primarily due to its significantly better main processor, larger amount of high-speed RAM, and a superior GPU, which collectively offer more computing power necessary for resource-intensive tasks. Additionally, the MSI has a higher resolution screen with better quality, contributing to a more precise visual workspace; however, it is heavier and less portable when compared with the slimmer and lighter Lenovo IdeaPad, which also has a fair keyboard but less impressive speaker and screen color quality.

The MSI Stealth GS77 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 has a decent display with an adequate resolution and brightness that suffices for everyday tasks and browsing, but it falls short in color gamut and refresh rate, which limits its performance for engineering applications and makes it less suitable for gaming and 3D work. On the other hand, the MSI Stealth GS77's high-resolution, bright display covers a wider color gamut, making it excellent for engineering and design tasks that require color accuracy, but, despite these advantages, it still lacks in refresh rate, which is crucial for a smooth gaming and 3D experience. Overall, each laptop's display characteristics define their optimal use case: the IdeaPad Slim 3 for casual use and the Stealth GS77 for professional design work, with both being less ideal for gaming and 3D due to their limited refresh rates.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
"The MSI Stealth GS77 is better than the GS76... mostly. The GS77 is a few steps forward and a few steps back from the GS76. Improvements are numerous including the stronger and more rigid skeleton, higher resolution webcam, larger clickpad, easier serviceability, relatively similar battery runtimes, newer display options, and higher performance at about the same TDP and TGP levels as before. CPU performance is better than expected even when compared to other laptops with Core i7 or Core i9 processors. The newer model feels more substantial than the outgoing one for higher quality impressions as well."
