The MSI Prestige 15 and Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 are both good for general use, though the MSI Prestige 15 is somewhat better.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, with its Ryzen 3 processor and 8GB RAM, is considered fair for general use partly due to its lower performance capabilities compared to the MSI Prestige 15, which boasts a more powerful i5 processor and 16GB RAM, better supporting multitasking and demanding apps. Additionally, the MSI Prestige 15 has superior screen quality with higher color coverage, is slightly heavier but still portable, and offers longer battery life, making it overall more favorable for various needs.

The MSI Prestige 15 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 for general use, engineering and design, and software development.
For general use, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3's screen is adequate due to its acceptable resolution and brightness, offering sufficient clarity and visibility for day-to-day tasks. The MSI Prestige 15's screen performs well in engineering and design tasks by providing broader color coverage, ensuring that colors are reproduced more accurately. However, both the IdeaPad Slim 3 and the Prestige 15 fall short for gaming and 3D applications, as their refresh rates are not high enough to deliver the smooth visuals critical for these activities.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 and the MSI Prestige 15 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
"The MSI Prestige 15 offers a dazzling 4K image quality, and solid performance. The MSI Prestige 15 appears to consistently implement the guiding principle of throttling the solid and efficient hardware to such an extent that content creation succeeds perfectly. Performance-hungry tasks, on the other hand, are slowed down a little by the reduced power consumption. Conversely, this means that the case remains relatively cool and the dual fan subdued. The battery life also benefits somewhat. So the losses aren't really dramatic because full performance is still available for short bursts."
