The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is usually less expensive and offers a larger screen size which may be preferable for multitasking and general productivity. It also has a touch screen feature and slightly longer battery life for typical usage. If you're seeking better performance for demanding tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, or more intensive engineering work, the MSI Modern 14 comes with a more powerful main processor, more RAM, and a slightly better GPU. However, it has a smaller battery capacity and the screen lacks touch capability. The MSI Modern 14 is lighter and more compact, which enhances its portability, but also means a smaller screen size. Both laptops are aimed at budget-conscious users and their build quality, keyboard, and heat management are rated comparably. Give Feedback

For general use, both the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 and MSI Modern 14 are equipped with screens that offer sufficient resolution and brightness to handle everyday tasks like web browsing and document editing, but they might lack the crispness and vibrancy found in higher-end displays. In the context of engineering and design, the screens may fall short in accurately representing colors due to more limited color gamut coverage compared to screens specialized for professional graphic work. When it comes to gaming and 3D applications, both laptops may not provide the smooth visual experience desired by enthusiasts, as they do not prioritize high refresh rates, leading to less fluid on-screen action.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 and the MSI Modern 14 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
