The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 offers better performance for 3D, machine learning, and gaming thanks to its dedicated Nvidia RTX GPU, and is suited for more intensive tasks; however, it's heavier and thus less portable. In contrast, the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s, while being lighter and therefore more portable, with a higher-resolution screen and better battery life, possesses integrated graphics that are less suitable for demanding tasks but adequate for general use and some engineering applications. It's important to consider your primary use: if gaming or graphics-intensive tasks are a priority, the IdeaPad Gaming 3 would be more appropriate, while for general business use and portability, the ThinkBook 13s would serve you well. The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 has a better screen than the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s has a better screen for engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
Both the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 and Lenovo ThinkBook 13s have panels with adequate resolution and brightness for comfortable reading, web browsing, and productivity, meeting the demands of general use. For engineering and design tasks, which require precise color representation, both laptops offer good color coverage that appeals to professionals who value color accuracy for their projects. However, for gaming and 3D applications, these laptops fall short due to their lower refresh rates, which can result in less fluid visuals and may not satisfy users seeking the most immersive experience.

The Lenovo ThinkBook 13s and Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 are both good for general use.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 offers solid performance with a capable AMD Ryzen CPU and Nvidia RTX GPU, making it ideal for general use that may include casual gaming, but it's heavier and larger, which affects portability and has a shorter battery life. On the other hand, the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s is lighter and more compact, has a higher-resolution screen, and offers more RAM for multitasking, making it suitable for general use with an emphasis on mobility and productivity tasks, though it may not handle gaming as well as the IdeaPad.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 and Lenovo ThinkBook 13s are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 offers a respectable gaming experience with its Nvidia RTX 2050 and a 120Hz screen refresh rate, which are very important for gaming and 3D tasks; though its AMD Ryzen CPU and screen quality are only somewhat important, they still contribute to its fair performance. On the other hand, the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s, while it has a solid Intel i7 CPU and high screen pixel density for good screen quality, falls short for intense gaming due to its integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics and a lower 60Hz refresh rate.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 and the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 is one of the most powerful RTX 3050 Ti laptops. If you disregard the mediocre quality of the case in terms of the material and workmanship, Lenovo has created a successful budget gaming laptop with the IdeaPad Gaming. Thanks to high TDPs and constant performance development, the Core i5-12500H and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti are able to show their full power, while in contrast, the (mostly slower) competitors deliver a better battery life. However, hardly any of the alternative laptops are able to reach the image quality of the Gaming 3. Most of the competitors are left behind in terms of the color space and brightness."
"The best thing about the ThinkBook 13S is that it’s a good deal. Business buyers looking for ThinkPad-level performance and software without ThinkPad pricing will probably find the ThinkBook a solid option. While nothing about it is really spectacular, it’s certainly unusual to see the ThinkBook’s screen resolution at a sub-$1,000 price, and its performance will be more than adequate for most office tasks. The generous port selection, 16:10 aspect ratio, physical webcam shutter, and clear audio are certainly icing on the cake."
