The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" is a budget-friendly option with good battery life, suitable for general use and lighter engineering tasks thanks to its AMD Ryzen processor and integrated graphics. It's larger and slightly heavier, which might affect portability, but includes a number pad and offers a decent screen size for multitasking. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is generally more expensive but boasts a higher-quality screen with better resolution, color accuracy, and refresh rate, making it more suited for tasks demanding better visual fidelity like photo editing and design work. It also has more RAM, enhancing performance for more intensive engineering and 3D tasks while being lighter and more compact, thus more travel-friendly. Choose the IdeaPad 5 15" for a more affordable, versatile machine, or the Slim 7i Pro if you're after higher performance, especially in visual tasks, and better portability albeit at a higher cost. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
The IdeaPad 5's screen has decent resolution and brightness, making it suitable for everyday tasks and media consumption, but it lacks the wider color gamut and sharpness preferred for engineering and design work. The IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro offers a higher resolution display with better brightness and a wider color range, enhancing the visual experience for detailed design applications. However, both screens have lower refresh rates, which is a drawback for smooth visuals in gaming and 3D applications where faster screen updates are crucial.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 is convincing due to its long battery life. The device scores points especially with its large battery and long battery runtimes combined with its low consumption. The CPU and GPU perform in the test as one would expect, and in line with what was familiar from the somewhat smaller 14-inch sister model, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14."
"The main selling point of the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro versus a regular IdeaPad Slim 7 is its faster Core H-series CPU. In reality, the Core i7-11370H is only marginally faster than the U-series Core i7-1165G7 to the point where most users are not likely to notice the benefits. The slight performance uptick comes at the cost of slightly higher power consumption as well meaning owners will have to deal with potentially warmer temperatures or louder fans to compensate. Unless if you happen to be a power user, then the regular non-Pro model will be more than enough. Once you go 90 Hz, you can't go back."
