If performance for tasks like 3D rendering and machine learning, or gaming is a priority and cost isn’t as much of an issue, the MSI Stealth GS77 would be a suitable option; however, it is heavier and has less battery life which affects portability. For general use and better portability at a significantly lower cost, with decent performance for day-to-day tasks, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is an excellent choice, although it won't handle intensive tasks as well as the MSI. The MSI also offers a higher resolution and color quality on the display, important for tasks requiring visual precision. Give Feedback

The MSI Stealth GS77 is good for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is only fair.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is less suited for gaming and 3D tasks due to its lesser integrated Vega 7 graphics, providing limited gaming capabilities and a basic 60Hz screen refresh rate, which limits the smoothness of gameplay. In contrast, the MSI Stealth GS77 excels in gaming and 3D performance, as it sports a much more powerful Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti dedicated graphics card and a high 240Hz refresh rate screen for extremely smooth visuals, complemented by a superior processor and better screen quality.

The MSI Stealth GS77 is very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is only fair.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 has a moderate processor and integrated graphics which are suitable for less demanding engineering tasks but may struggle with intensive design work while its screen quality and RAM are adequate but not top-tier. In contrast, the MSI Stealth GS77 boasts a high-end CPU and a powerful dedicated GPU which easily handle engineering simulations and design software, complemented by a higher resolution display and ample RAM, providing a very good experience for engineering and designing, albeit with less portability due to higher weight.

The MSI Stealth GS77 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, both Lenovo IdeaPad 3 and MSI Stealth GS77 offer high resolution and bright displays that make viewing documents, browsing the web, and watching videos a pleasant experience. When it comes to engineering and design, the MSI Stealth's likely superior color gamut coverage means it can display a wider range of colors more accurately, which is essential for tasks like photo editing or CAD work. However, for gaming and 3D applications where a high refresh rate is crucial for smooth motion, both laptops fall short due to their poorer refresh rates, which might not deliver the fluid gameplay or animation professionals and enthusiasts seek.

"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
"The MSI Stealth GS77 is better than the GS76... mostly. The GS77 is a few steps forward and a few steps back from the GS76. Improvements are numerous including the stronger and more rigid skeleton, higher resolution webcam, larger clickpad, easier serviceability, relatively similar battery runtimes, newer display options, and higher performance at about the same TDP and TGP levels as before. CPU performance is better than expected even when compared to other laptops with Core i7 or Core i9 processors. The newer model feels more substantial than the outgoing one for higher quality impressions as well."
