The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" offers a lower price, larger screen, and longer battery life, making it suitable for general use and budget-conscious buyers who prioritize portability and casual tasks. The MSI GE66 Raider, on the other hand, is more expensive but features a more powerful processor and graphics card, higher resolution display, and better overall performance for 3D rendering, machine learning, and intensive gaming. However, it has a smaller screen size and shorter battery life, which may affect its convenience for extended use away from a power source. Choose the IdeaPad for everyday tasks or the Raider if high performance for specialized tasks is necessary. Give Feedback

The MSI GE66 Raider is excellent for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is only fair.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3, with its moderate processing capabilities from an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU and Vega 7 GPU, is fair for engineering tasks due to its sufficient but not top-of-the-line performance, whereas the MSI GE66 Raider excels with its high-end Intel i9 CPU and Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti GPU which are more suited for demanding engineering and design workloads. Additionally, the MSI offers superior screen quality with a higher resolution and color accuracy, enhancing design tasks, but it is less portable and noisier than the more modest Lenovo.

The MSI GE66 Raider has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" offers a larger screen with decent resolution and brightness, making it comfortable for everyday tasks and media consumption; however, the MSI GE66 Raider, while also providing a sharp and bright display, likely has better color reproduction and a higher resolution that enhances the viewing experience. When it comes to engineering and design, the MSI's superior color accuracy, covering a wider range of the color gamuts, allows for more precise work in professional applications that demand true-to-life colors. For gaming and 3D applications, the MSI GE66 Raider's screen falls short due to a lower refresh rate, which is crucial for smooth motion and quick-paced action, unlike the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 which also isn't suited for these tasks, presumably for the same reason.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" and the MSI GE66 Raider compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
"The MSI Raider GE66 12UHS notebook passes with flying colors. The GE66 is a high-end notebook with strong performance. The keyboard and trackpad are still very good and score well with precise inputs as well as high build quality. Thanks to a new liquid metal cooling solution, the Intel Core i9 12900HK brings a performance increase of around 50 percent over the predecessor's Intel Core i9 10980HK. The installed graphics card in our device delivers up to 30 percent higher frame rates than the RTX 2070 Super in the MSI GE66 10SFS."
