Deciding between the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" and the LG Gram 16 depends on your priorities. The Lenovo is more affordable and provides a larger screen, which is great for watching videos and multitasking, but it's heavier and has less battery life. On the other hand, the LG Gram 16 is lighter and has a higher resolution screen, which can offer a crisper display and is more portable, but you will pay more for these premium features. So, if budget and screen size are your main concerns, the Lenovo may suit you, whereas if you value portability and screen quality and don't mind spending more, the LG Gram could be the better option. The LG Gram 16 is good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is only fair.
The LG Gram 16 is better suited for engineering and design due to its powerful Intel i7 processor, double the RAM, and superior Iris Xe graphics, which alongside its high-resolution display, enhances detail and accuracy in design work. Compared to this, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" has a fair AMD Ryzen 5 CPU and GPU, sufficient RAM, and a good screen, but it falls short in performance, making it less ideal for more demanding tasks. Additionally, the LG Gram boasts better portability and silent operation, factors that add to its appeal for professionals on the go.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" and the LG Gram 16 compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
"The LG Gram 16 is a lightweight device with stability issues. The LG Gram 16Z90Q with a Core i7-1260P is made with portability in mind and places less of a focus on users with high demands on performance. The compact and light chassis is particularly practical when you are on the go. The device is not only comfortably small and lightweight, it also boasts a great battery life. When connected to mains, on the other hand, the 16-inch device is rather disappointing. The standard cooling mode causes extreme volatility in terms of CPU, SSD and iGPU performance. The meager stability of the chassis may also put off some potential buyers."
