The Lenovo Flex 5 14 is a 2-in-1 convertible, which means you can use it as both a laptop and a tablet, providing versatility if you need a touch screen for design tasks or prefer a tablet mode for reading and browsing. It's lighter and thus more portable, which could be a significant advantage if you travel or commute frequently. Conversely, the Lenovo Slim 7 16 offers more power with a dedicated graphics card, making it better suited for gaming, video editing, and other graphics-intensive applications. However, it is slightly heavier and larger, which might be less convenient for carrying around. Both have the same amount of memory and are similarly priced, so your decision should be influenced by whether you prioritize portability and versatility or require more graphics performance for demanding applications. The Lenovo Slim 7 16 has a better screen than the Lenovo Flex 5 14 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, the Lenovo Flex 5 14's screen offers sufficient resolution and brightness, but falls short in producing the sharpest imagery due to its panel quality; in contrast, the Lenovo Slim 7 16 provides a higher resolution and more vibrant display, enhancing daily computing. When considering engineering and design, the Slim 7 16 stands out with its wider color gamut coverage, allowing for more precise color representation which is critical for professional creative work, whereas the Flex 5 14 may not fully satisfy color accuracy requirements. Regarding gaming and 3D applications, despite both having higher resolutions which are beneficial, the lack of high refresh rates on both machines limits their ability to display the smooth, fast-paced visuals often favored in these scenarios.

How the Lenovo Flex 5 14 and the Lenovo Slim 7 16 compare to other laptops
"The highlight of the latest IdeaPad Flex 5 14 is clearly its AMD CPU. The octa-core Ryzen 7 5700U is insanely fast even when compared to the best Tiger Lake Ultrabooks in the market or even Core H CPUs in many gaming laptops. It's a lot of raw processing power for what is supposed to be a budget 14-inch convertible. If your daily workloads can benefit from extra multi-thread CPU performance, then look no further than the inexpensive AMD-powered Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14. For regular on-the-road browsing or video streaming, however, a slimmer and lighter 10th gen Core Yoga, Spectre, or XPS would be a more balanced option."
"At $1,011, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Pro is a real bargain among full-sized laptops, with a handsome 16-inch, 16:10 aspect ratio touch screen, a speedy CPU, a comfortable keyboard, ample memory, and a roomy solid-state drive. It's not a blazing gaming rig or mobile workstation, but it doesn't pretend to be. Its biggest negative is that it may be hard to find—during our review, it sold out and was marked "Temporarily Unavailable" on Lenovo's site."
