For a balance of performance and portability with a focus on gaming, engineering tasks, and general use, the Lenovo Legion 5 16 (2024) is a strong contender. It offers a high-performance Intel i9 processor and a dedicated Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU, ensuring smooth handling of demanding applications and games. The 16-inch screen with a 2560 x 1600 resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate is ideal for fast-paced motion and detailed visuals, though it lacks touch capability. Its robust build and advanced cooling system manage heat effectively, which is essential for intensive tasks. However, it's heavier and less portable than the IdeaPad, and the battery life is shorter, which might be a drawback if you need to work on the go. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is designed for general use and portability. It's lighter, thinner, and has a longer battery life, making it an excellent choice for everyday tasks and mobility. The 14-inch touchscreen with a 2880 x 1800 resolution offers vibrant colors and sharp images, suitable for content consumption and casual use. While it doesn't match the Legion 5's gaming and engineering performance due to its integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, it's more than capable of handling everyday productivity and multimedia tasks. The IdeaPad also features a backlit keyboard with a number pad and supports facial recognition for added convenience. In summary, if you prioritize top-tier performance for gaming and engineering tasks and don't mind a bulkier, less portable device, the Lenovo Legion 5 16 (2024) is the way to go. However, if you value portability, battery life, and a versatile touchscreen for general productivity, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is the better choice. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Allen Ngo | October 2021
"The main selling point of the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro versus a regular IdeaPad Slim 7 is its faster Core H-series CPU. In reality, the Core i7-11370H is only marginally faster than the U-series Core i7-1165G7 to the point where most users are not likely to notice the benefits. The slight performance uptick comes at the cost of slightly higher power consumption as well meaning owners will have to deal with potentially warmer temperatures or louder fans to compensate. Unless if you happen to be a power user, then the regular non-Pro model will be more than enough. Once you go 90 Hz, you can't go back."
