The HP Omen 17 is a more premium device, offering better performance with a higher-end processor and graphics card, which makes it suitable for intensive tasks like gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning. It also has a larger and higher resolution display that can give a better visual experience but makes it less portable due to size and weight. On the other hand, the MSI Thin GF63 is more budget-friendly with slightly lesser performance, which still supports gaming and general use but may not handle demanding tasks as well. It's more lightweight and portable, with a smaller screen size that may favor frequent travelers. Battery life also differs, with the Omen 17 having a larger battery which could last longer, but this will vary depending on usage. If you prioritize high performance and can invest more, the Omen 17 may be better, but if you seek a balance between cost, moderate performance, and portability, the GF63 could be a fine choice. The HP Omen 17 has a better screen than the MSI Thin GF63 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The HP Omen 17 has a display that offers vibrant colors and good resolution which is favorable for everyday tasks and professional design work, but its lower refresh rate isn't ideal for the smooth visuals necessary in high-paced gaming and interacting with 3D applications. The MSI Thin GF63 provides a decent visual experience with adequate resolution and brightness suitable for regular use and non-critical design tasks, but it lacks the wider color gamut that designers often rely on for accurate color representation. For gaming and 3D work, the MSI's refresh rate isn't high enough to ensure the fluid motion and responsiveness that those activities typically demand.

How the HP Omen 17 and the MSI Thin GF63 compare to other laptops
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
"The MSI GF63 Thin 11SC can be an admirable value for gamers and power users on a minimal budget. For just $599 as reviewed in its base model, its Intel Core i5 H-class processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics perform much better than low-wattage CPUs and integrated graphics. That said, this is a light-class gaming laptop. Low scores in our demanding gaming benchmarks indicate using lower visual-quality settings will be required for playable performance."
