The HP Omen 17 is more expensive and offers higher performance with its powerful processor and GPU, making it suitable for intensive gaming, 3D rendering, and engineering tasks. However, it's heavier and less portable. The MSI Modern 14 is more affordable, lighter, and more portable, but its performance is lower, suitable for general use rather than demanding tasks. If you prioritize gaming or heavy-duty work and don't mind the cost and size, choose the HP Omen 17. If you prefer something more budget-friendly and portable for everyday tasks, the MSI Modern 14 would be a better fit. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Marc Herter | September 2022
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."

Rtings

Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
