The HP Omen 17, being more expensive, offers significantly better performance, especially for 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering applications, largely thanks to its powerful processor and GPU. It's more suited for intensive gaming and tasks that require high graphical power. However, it’s heavier and has a shorter battery life, making it less portable. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is less expensive and has longer battery life, which could make it more suitable for general use and better for carrying around. It is lighter but offers lower performance, particularly in tasks that involve graphics or computation-intensive work, and fewer premium features compared to the HP Omen 17. Give Feedback

The HP Omen 17 and Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" are both good for general use, though the HP Omen 17 is somewhat better.
The HP Omen 17 offers superior CPU and GPU performance, more RAM, and a higher-resolution screen which benefits image quality and detail for power users, at the cost of heavier weight and shorter battery life compared to the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17", which is lighter with a longer battery life, making it a more portable choice for everyday tasks even though it has a less powerful CPU and GPU, less RAM, and a lower-resolution screen. Additionally, the Omen 17's higher screen refresh rate and better heat management are advantageous for gaming and intensive tasks, while the IdeaPad 3 excels in operating noise, being quieter, which could enhance user comfort during use.

The HP Omen 17 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
When evaluating laptops for general use, the HP Omen 17 offers a vivid display with high resolution and brightness, which is appealing for everyday activities like browsing and video streaming, just like the Lenovo IdeaPad 3, which also provides a clear and bright viewing experience. For engineering and design purposes, however, color accuracy and a wide color gamut are crucial, and here, both laptops deliver good performance, although they might not cover the professional color spaces extensively. Despite this, neither laptop is optimal for gaming and 3D applications due to their limited refresh rates, which can't provide the smooth visuals required for high-frame-rate gaming, though their resolutions and panel types may be adequate for less demanding gaming scenarios.

How the HP Omen 17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" compare to other laptops
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
