The HP Envy x360 15" has a better screen than the MSI GF65 Thin for software development, and content creation, while the MSI GF65 Thin has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, the HP Envy x360 15" and the MSI GF65 Thin have screens that may not be as sharp or bright as higher-end models, which affects how comfortable they are to view for long periods, but they are perfectly serviceable for everyday tasks like browsing the web and using office applications. In engineering and design contexts where accurate colors are crucial, both laptops' displays fall short in delivering the wide color gamuts professionals need, which could lead to less precise color work. For gaming and 3D applications, both laptops' lack of high refresh rates can hinder the smoothness of fast-paced visuals, although for less demanding games or 3D tasks, they may still perform adequately.

The MSI GF65 Thin and HP Envy x360 15" are both only fair for engineering and design.
The HP Envy x360 15" is considered fair for engineering and design use largely because it has an integrated GPU that doesn't match the power of dedicated GPUs, and its base CPU and RAM are adequate but may fall short during more demanding tasks. The MSI GF65 Thin, on the other hand, boasts a more powerful Intel CPU and an Nvidia RTX GPU, making it better suited for engineering and design applications that require intensive graphical processing and overall higher computing performance.

How the HP Envy x360 15" and the MSI GF65 Thin compare to other laptops
"Despite its good looks, stellar webcam and comfortable keyboard, the Envy x360 15 is hard to recommend because of its dim, 16:9 display. If the display isn't an issue for you, just be sure to wait for a good sale price. Otherwise, a more modern two-in-one with a 16:10 display such as the Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 or Lenovo Yoga 7i 16 provides a larger workspace without adding much to the size and weight of the system."
"The MSI GF65 Thin offers a GeForce RTX 3060 on a budget. The MSI GF65 is a relatively inexpensive RTX 3060 laptop and, perhaps not coincidentally, it also comes with a slower-than-average RTX 3060 GPU. Other laptops we've tested thus far with the same GPU are about 10 to 15 percent faster. CPU performance is also slightly slower than average unless if users decide to enable Cooler Boost mode. Colors, black-white response times, Thunderbolt, and DisplayPort are either average or completely omitted. Gamers who want to maximize performance-per-dollar without sacrificing RAM or SSD upgradeability will find the lightweight MSI GF65 attractive."
