If price is a significant concern and you need a larger screen, the HP 17" Laptop may suit you well, as it's often somewhat less expensive with a 17.3-inch screen for increased productivity, plus a number pad on its keyboard for easier data entry. However, it's heavier and has lower battery life, which means it's less portable and not ideal for on-the-go usage. The XPG Xenia 14, on the other hand, is more expensive but offers better portability with its lighter weight and longer battery life, making it a better choice if you frequently travel or work remotely, even though it has a smaller 14-inch screen. Both laptops have similar storage and processing power, sufficient for general use, engineering tasks, and some light gaming, but if you need to perform intensive 3D rendering, machine learning, or engineering simulations, you might find them lacking in high-end performance. The XPG Xenia 14 has a better screen than the HP 17" Laptop for general use, and engineering and design.
When considering general use, the HP with its fair screen quality provides an adequate balance between resolution, panel type, and brightness, which are crucial for everyday tasks like browsing and document editing. On the other hand, the XPG Xenia 14 with its good screen quality offers a higher resolution and better panel type, enhancing visual clarity and color reproduction for tasks like image viewing and video streaming. However, for specialized needs such as engineering, design, and especially 3D work where higher color accuracy and faster refresh rates are vital, neither the HP's nor the XPG's screen qualities meet the high standards that professionals may require, due to their limitations in color gamut coverage and refresh rates respectively.

How the HP 17" Laptop and the XPG Xenia 14 compare to other laptops
"As far as starter laptops go, the HP Laptop 17 is a sound investment. Sure, it might not be the lightest of options, but what you get for the price is a well-rounded machine that fits multiple niches. Whether it be office duties that require you to multi-task between multiple programs, or study tasks in which you’ll spend hours browsing online, this laptop does it all. Plus, when it's time to unwind, you can watch your favorite shows or movies on a super-wide display. What's best of all is that you can do all this for about half a day on a single charge."
"The Xenia 14 is a top 14-inch laptop under 1 kg. ADATA isn't exactly known for its laptops and so we weren't expecting much from its first 14-inch Ultrabook. With that said, we're pleasantly surprised by how well the Xenia 14 looks and performs. Not only is it incredibly light, but it has a color accurate 16:10 display, high CPU and GPU performance, easy RAM and SSD serviceability, plenty of port options including Thunderbolt 4, and long battery life. It packs a lot of punch and features considering the size and weight to be better than even the LG Gram series."
