If cost is a major concern for you, the HP 14" Laptop is a more budget-friendly option and should handle basic tasks such as web browsing, office applications, and media consumption well. However, if you require higher performance for activities like 3D work, machine learning, gaming, or engineering software, the MSI Thin GF63, while costlier, offers more powerful hardware to meet those demands. The MSI also tends to have better gaming capabilities due to its dedicated graphics card. Keep in mind, the HP offers increased portability due to its smaller size and typically has longer battery life, which could be beneficial if you're frequently on the move. Give Feedback

PORTABILITY SCORE
7.3/10
The MSI Thin GF63 is good for general use, while the HP 14" Laptop is only fair.
The HP 14" Laptop is fair for general use because it sports middle-of-the-road components like an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage, which are adequate for everyday tasks, but it has an edge with slightly better screen brightness and portability due to its lighter weight and longer battery life. On the other hand, the MSI Thin GF63, which is branded as good for general use, offers a more powerful Intel i7 CPU, double the RAM at 16GB, and larger storage at 512GB, enhancing performance for more demanding applications, but compromises with a lower display brightness, heavier weight, and shorter battery life.

The MSI Thin GF63 is good for engineering and design, while the HP 14" Laptop is only fair.
The HP 14" Laptop has a mid-range Ryzen 5 CPU with integrated graphics, making it less capable for demanding tasks compared to the MSI Thin GF63, which boasts a higher-end Intel i7 CPU and discrete Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU, providing considerable power for engineering software and design work.

The MSI Thin GF63 has a better screen than the HP 14" Laptop for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, a laptop like the HP with fair screen quality likely offers adequate resolution and brightness for tasks such as browsing the web or working on documents, but the screen may not be as vivid or crisp compared to higher-end models. In engineering and design, where color accuracy is crucial, both the HP and MSI with fair screen quality suggest they may not cover a wide color gamut, making them less ideal for professional photo editing or CAD work. For gaming and 3D applications, the importance of a high refresh rate means both laptops may not deliver as smooth imagery as gaming-dedicated machines, and their fair ranking indicates they have lower refresh rates, which could detract from fast-paced interactive experiences.

How the HP 14" Laptop and the MSI Thin GF63 compare to other laptops
"This feels like an ideal laptop for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on a laptop and isn’t too bothered by things like build quality or construction. It’s a laptop that will be used to pay bills, keep track of expenses, do some online shopping, and will be tucked away in a spare bedroom/home office. It’s an appliance designed to do a job without fuss. It’s not a premium experience—the materials do feel a little cheap, the display won’t exactly wow you, and the battery life is nothing to write home about, especially if you’ve used more expensive devices. But overall it’s not too shabby, especially for the price."
"The MSI GF63 Thin 11SC can be an admirable value for gamers and power users on a minimal budget. For just $599 as reviewed in its base model, its Intel Core i5 H-class processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics perform much better than low-wattage CPUs and integrated graphics. That said, this is a light-class gaming laptop. Low scores in our demanding gaming benchmarks indicate using lower visual-quality settings will be required for playable performance."
