If performance for gaming or resource-heavy tasks is a priority and you’re okay with a heavier machine, the Gigabyte G5 with its advanced graphics and processor packs more power, but costs more. The HP Envy x360 15" offers a budget-friendly option with sufficient capabilities for everyday tasks and the versatility of a 2-in-1 convertible touchscreen, at the expense of lower storage and less graphics power. The Gigabyte G5 has a better screen than the HP Envy x360 15" for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design, while the HP Envy x360 15" has a better screen for content creation.
For general use, a fair screen indicates that both the Gigabyte G5 and HP Envy x360 15" offer a display that has acceptable resolution and brightness, but they may not have the top-tier panel types that provide wider viewing angles and crisper images. In the context of engineering and design, while both laptops provide adequate resolution for detailed work, their color reproduction may fall short of encompassing the full spectrum required for precise color tasks, as they likely do not cover the wider color gamuts like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB completely. As for 3D and gaming, the "poor" screen quality on these models suggests that they have lower refresh rates which can lead to less smooth visuals during fast-paced action, and while the resolution and panel type play a role, they aren't compensating enough for the subpar refresh rates.

The HP Envy x360 15" and Gigabyte G5 are both good for general use.
The HP Envy x360 15" is rated higher for general use than the Gigabyte G5 primarily due to its significantly longer battery life, more versatile 2-in-1 design with touchscreen, and superior portability without compromising the quality of its screen, keyboard, and speakers. Conversely, despite the Gigabyte G5's solid CPU and dedicated GPU making it more suitable for gaming and possibly some more intensive tasks, these features result in shorter battery life, heavier weight thus affecting its portability, and it does not offer the convenience of a 2-in-1 design or touchscreen which are advantageous for general use.

How the Gigabyte G5 and the HP Envy x360 15" compare to other laptops
"The Gigabyte G5 KE is a midrange gaming laptop that checks most boxes. Gigabyte makes good use of the Core i5-12500H and RTX 3060 Laptop GPU combo, and we find no untoward issues with overall performance. The dual-fan quad-heatpipe cooling arrangement does well to ensure that the underlying hardware doesn't throttle under load. That being said, the display is below par when compared to 2023 standards, especially when competing devices."
"Despite its good looks, stellar webcam and comfortable keyboard, the Envy x360 15 is hard to recommend because of its dim, 16:9 display. If the display isn't an issue for you, just be sure to wait for a good sale price. Otherwise, a more modern two-in-one with a 16:10 display such as the Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 or Lenovo Yoga 7i 16 provides a larger workspace without adding much to the size and weight of the system."
