For intensive engineering tasks, the Gigabyte Aorus 17H stands out due to its powerful main processor and GPU, offering strong performance for such applications; however, it's expensive and less portable due to its weight and size. Meanwhile, the HP Omen 15 provides good value for general use and gaming at a lower price point, offers notably better battery life, and is easier to carry around. The Aorus 17H also excels in screen colors and refresh rate, which is advantageous for fast-paced gaming, while the Omen 15 strikes a balance between affordability and capability, being well-suited for general use and still capable for engineering and gaming. The Gigabyte Aorus 17H is very good for gaming and AI, while the HP Omen 15 is good.
The Gigabyte Aorus 17H excels in gaming and 3D applications due to its more powerful Nvidia RTX 4080 graphics card and a higher screen refresh rate of 360Hz, which can deliver smoother visuals and more detailed graphics. In comparison, the HP Omen 15 is equipped with a less potent Nvidia RTX 3070 and a lower refresh rate of 144Hz, which is still commendable for gaming, but may not be as fluid or responsive for fast-paced 3D tasks.

The Gigabyte Aorus 17H is very good for engineering and design, while the HP Omen 15 is good.
The Gigabyte Aorus 17H excels in engineering and design tasks due to its supercharged CPU and GPU, a larger high-refresh-rate display for smoother visuals, and its superior screen quality, although it is less portable and has a shorter battery life than the HP Omen 15, which also offers adequate CPU and GPU capabilities for such tasks with better portability and longer battery life. While both systems have ample RAM and storage, the Aorus 17H's top-tier graphics card and processing power make it more suitable for the most demanding engineering applications, and its build is more focused on performance over portability compared to the more balanced HP Omen 15.

The Gigabyte Aorus 17H has a better screen than the HP Omen 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and content creation.
When considering the Gigabyte Aorus 17H, the excellent resolution and brightness make it a great choice for daily tasks and watching videos, which is what general use typically involves. For engineering and design professionals who require accurate color representation, this laptop's strong coverage of color gamuts ensures that designs will look precise and vibrant. However, for gaming and 3D applications where fluid motion is critical, the lower refresh rate of the Aorus 17H's screen might lead to less smooth gameplay compared to models with higher refresh rates.

The HP Omen 15 and Gigabyte Aorus 17H are both good for general use.
The Gigabyte Aorus 17H is well-suited for general use due to its high-performance CPU and ample RAM, plus it features a quality screen with a high refresh rate, although its size and weight make it less portable and it has moderate battery life. Conversely, the HP Omen 15 also caters well to general use, with a capable CPU and the same amount of RAM, a quality display, and better battery life than the Aorus, but it's more portable due to its smaller size and lighter weight, making it a more balanced option for those on the move.

How the Gigabyte Aorus 17H and the HP Omen 15 compare to other laptops
"Overall though, it’s *lots of swearing* fast, seriously. For work, rendering, gaming, it doesn’t matter, this is a true weapon of performance that’s going to run rings around most high-end desktop systems. If you absolutely have to game at ultra-high refresh rates on the go (but within thinking distance of a plug socket), this is the ticket. I can’t see such an extreme being that appealing to everyone, but if you take your gaming seriously, or even professionally, there’s nothing else out there that comes close that you can still fit in your backpack and travel with."
"We consider around 1,260 Euros (~$1530) for a Ryzen 7 4800H, a GeForce RTX 2060, a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB dual-channel RAM to be a good offer that appeals to price-conscious gamers. Very high details are rarely a problem in the native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. Buyers will also be spoiled with a top-notch battery life that even beats most other notebook classes. If HP now improves the speed of the WLAN module, the stability of the case and the repeatedly criticized picture quality, the competition will have to dress extra warmly."
