For a balance of performance and portability, the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (2024) is a strong contender with its newer processor and graphics card, offering better gaming and engineering capabilities. However, it has a smaller screen at 16 inches and slightly less battery life compared to the Gigabyte Aorus 17, which boasts a larger 17.3-inch display and longer battery life, making it suitable for general use and entertainment. The Aorus 17 also features a number pad and more USB-C connectivity options, which might be important if you need versatile port options. Consider the Legion Pro 5i for its superior performance in demanding tasks and a more compact design, while the Aorus 17 is ideal for those who prioritize screen size and battery endurance. A Core i7-12700H processor and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU make this possible. A lightning-fast PCIe 4 SSD (1 TB) provides the necessary storage space and ensures short loading times. PCMag

Brian Westover | August 2023
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
