The Gigabyte Aorus 15X offers a blend of performance and portability with a high refresh rate display and powerful components that make it suitable for 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering tasks while remaining somewhat easy to carry. Its battery life is average, providing enough power for typical usage without frequent charging. The HP Omen 17, with a larger screen and slight edge in graphics, leans towards those who prioritize a more immersive gaming and visual experience, also suitable for demanding tasks. However, it's a bit heavier and less portable, and you may find the battery life shorter. Both have similar storage and memory, capable of handling general use and intensive applications. If portability and battery life are your chief concerns, the Aorus 15X may be more appealing, but if you prefer a larger display and slightly better gaming performance, the Omen 17 could be the right choice despite being less travel-friendly. The Gigabyte Aorus 15X has a better screen than the HP Omen 17 for gaming and AI.
For general use, both the Gigabyte Aorus 15X and the HP Omen 17 offer screens with pleasing resolution and brightness, ensuring that text, images, and videos appear clear and vibrant. In engineering and design, these laptops have displays with color ranges that cover various gamuts well, providing accuracy in color-sensitive tasks, though they may not be the absolute top performers in this regard. However, for gaming and 3D work, their screens lag behind due to lower refresh rates, which means they won't be as smooth in displaying fast-paced visuals compared to models with higher refresh rates.

How the Gigabyte Aorus 15X and the HP Omen 17 compare to other laptops
"The Gigabyte Aorus 15X is a strong showing of Raptor Lake and RTX 4000 series. While the Aorus had trouble keeping up in older games like Grand Theft Auto V, it nudged past the competition in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It also flexed its next-generation muscle in Far Cry 6 and Borderlands 3. While we were impressed with the overall build quality and design of the Aorus 15X, the keyboard lacked good tactile feedback. The display performed well in real-world testing despite its on-paper shortcoming with brightness, but the speakers are lackluster at best."
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
