For a balance of performance and price, the Gigabyte A5 with its dedicated Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU and AMD Ryzen 5 5600H processor is a solid choice, particularly if you're into gaming or need robust performance for tasks like video editing or 3D rendering. It offers a higher refresh rate screen, which is great for smoother visuals in fast-paced games. However, it's heavier and thicker, making it less portable than the Samsung. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 16 boasts an OLED display with superior color accuracy and brightness, making it exceptional for media consumption and creative work that benefits from a vibrant screen. Its Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor is designed for efficiency, which translates to longer battery life, but it may not match the raw performance of the Gigabyte's AMD processor for intensive tasks. The Samsung is also more expensive, thinner, and lighter, offering better portability and a premium 2-in-1 design for those who value versatility and a touchscreen experience. Consider the Gigabyte A5 for its performance edge and gaming capabilities, but if you prioritize a stunning display, all-day battery life, and a versatile, ultra-portable design, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 16 is the way to go. Florian Glaser | September 2022
"Ignoring price, the Gigabyte A5 has a hard time against the similarly fast competition. Besides the loud noise in 3D mode (performance mode), the high temperature development of the components should be mentioned on the downside. Despite the relatively thick case, the laptop gets very warm and loud under load, which does not exactly speak for the cooling system. The plastic surfaces look rather cheap and also tend to rattle. In most other disciplines - be it the input devices, the screen, the connectivity or the battery runtime - the Gigabyte laptop does not stand out from the crowd, neither positively nor negatively. However, those who primarily pay attention to the price-performance ratio will get a pretty good offer with the Gigabyte A5."
