The Gigabyte A5 comes at a slightly lower price and might appeal more to budget-conscious customers, offering solid performance with its AMD Ryzen 5 processor and Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics, suitable for general use and gaming. However, it has a shorter battery life and a lower resolution screen compared to the Lenovo Legion Slim 5i. The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i, while slightly more expensive, provides a sharper and larger screen, better battery life, and higher performance with an Intel i7 processor and Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics, which makes it a better choice for intensive tasks, including 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering applications. It also has a higher portability score, making it easier to carry around. Both have 16GB of RAM; the A5 has 512GB of storage, while the Legion Slim 5i doubles that with 1024GB. If portability, screen quality, and higher-end performance are key, the Legion Slim 5i stands out; if you're looking to save money and can compromise on screen resolution and battery life, the A5 is still a capable choice. The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i is very good for engineering and design, while the Gigabyte A5 is good.
The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i edges out the Gigabyte A5 in engineering and design use due to its superior main processor and GPU, which can handle more intensive tasks and programs, and its higher screen quality with better resolution and color accuracy, essential for precision work. While the Gigabyte A5 offers good performance and screen quality for engineering tasks, it falls a little short compared to the Legion Slim 5i, especially in key areas like CPU and GPU power, though it is slightly more portable and has a lower operating noise.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i has a better screen than the Gigabyte A5 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Gigabyte A5's panel type, resolution, and brightness are adequate for general tasks, making it suitable for daily activities and media consumption. However, the Lenovo Legion Slim 5i steps ahead with a higher quality display that provides better sharpness, clarity, and illuminance, enhancing the viewing experience for general use. Neither laptop excels for gaming and 3D applications; their displays lack the high refresh rates required for smooth visuals, though resolution and panel type are also important factors in these shortcomings.

How the Gigabyte A5 and the Lenovo Legion Slim 5i compare to other laptops
"Ignoring price, the Gigabyte A5 has a hard time against the similarly fast competition. Besides the loud noise in 3D mode (performance mode), the high temperature development of the components should be mentioned on the downside. Despite the relatively thick case, the laptop gets very warm and loud under load, which does not exactly speak for the cooling system. The plastic surfaces look rather cheap and also tend to rattle. In most other disciplines - be it the input devices, the screen, the connectivity or the battery runtime - the Gigabyte laptop does not stand out from the crowd, neither positively nor negatively. However, those who primarily pay attention to the price-performance ratio will get a pretty good offer with the Gigabyte A5."
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 acknowledges that a gaming laptop doesn’t have to be as thick as possible and can still ensure adequate cooling when the muscles need flexing. To this end, in the Slim 5 Gen 8, it finds a neat balance of refined, trimmed-down design that still lets its internals cruise (even above their max power ratings). Lenovo then added in some high-end build quality with an altogether excellent keyboard that’s useful for both work and play."
