The Gigabyte A5 is less expensive and offers decent performance for general use and gaming, with a good balance of features for its lower price. However, it has a shorter battery life and is slightly heavier, which might affect portability. On the other hand, the HP Omen 17, while more expensive, provides superior performance for intensive gaming, 3D modeling, and engineering tasks due to its more powerful graphics and processor, and it boasts a larger, higher-resolution display. But this comes at the cost of even less portability due to its larger size and weight. Consider your budget, performance needs, and how often you'll carry the laptop when making your decision. The HP Omen 17 is very good for engineering and design, while the Gigabyte A5 is good.
The HP Omen 17 is considered very good for engineering and design use due to its more powerful Intel processor and superior Nvidia RTX 4080 GPU which support more demanding tasks alongside a higher resolution and brighter screen, which contributes to better visual clarity compared to the Gigabyte A5. The Gigabyte A5, while still good for engineering and design, offers a less powerful AMD processor and Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU, and a lower resolution screen, yet these components might make it a more affordable option with decent performance for less intensive engineering applications.

The HP Omen 17 has a better screen than the Gigabyte A5 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the HP Omen 17's higher resolution and brighter display offer more clarity and ease of viewing than the Gigabyte A5, which is also robust but less impressive. In engineering and design, both laptops have capable screens with good color representation, but the HP's slightly better color gamut coverage gives an edge for tasks like photo editing. For gaming and 3D applications, despite both having lower refresh rates, which are crucial for smooth action, the resolution and panel type are still adequate but not ideal compared to models tailored for those specific needs.

"Ignoring price, the Gigabyte A5 has a hard time against the similarly fast competition. Besides the loud noise in 3D mode (performance mode), the high temperature development of the components should be mentioned on the downside. Despite the relatively thick case, the laptop gets very warm and loud under load, which does not exactly speak for the cooling system. The plastic surfaces look rather cheap and also tend to rattle. In most other disciplines - be it the input devices, the screen, the connectivity or the battery runtime - the Gigabyte laptop does not stand out from the crowd, neither positively nor negatively. However, those who primarily pay attention to the price-performance ratio will get a pretty good offer with the Gigabyte A5."
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
