For a balance of performance and value, the Gateway 15.6" is a solid choice, offering a capable Intel i5 processor and a Full HD IPS display that's suitable for general use and some light engineering tasks. Its battery life is decent, and it's quite portable for its screen size. However, it lacks advanced features like a touchscreen, high refresh rate, or Thunderbolt connectivity, and it's not designed for intensive gaming or 3D rendering. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 16 boasts a stunning OLED display with a high resolution and refresh rate, making it exceptional for media consumption and tasks that benefit from vibrant colors and fast response times. It's also more future-proof with Windows 11 Home and offers better performance for 3D tasks and machine learning with its Qualcomm Adreno 750 GPU. The Galaxy Book4 Edge is thinner, lighter, and has a more premium build quality, along with a backlit keyboard and advanced security features like facial recognition. It's a better fit for users who prioritize display quality, portability, and cutting-edge technology, and it can handle more demanding tasks while offering a longer battery life. However, these premium features come at a higher price point. Ultimately, if you're looking for an affordable, reliable laptop for everyday tasks and aren't concerned with the latest features or high-performance gaming, the Gateway is a practical choice. If you're willing to invest in a laptop that excels in display quality, offers enhanced security, and can tackle more demanding applications, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 16 is the way to go. PCMag

Francisco Lahoz | July 2022
"Some concessions have to be made when shopping for a budget laptop. Walmart's Gateway Ultra Slim laptops succeeds on the affordability front and delivers serviceable specs and good battery life, though it's hard to claim it's the best (or even particularly good) at any particular aspect. Its build quality, especially the touchpad, is mediocre, and its performance is decent but doesn't lead the way. The Gateway does undercut the cost of some competitors and offers ample storage with good connectivity, so it's not to be ignored."
