The Gateway 15.6" comes at a slightly higher price and offers more storage and memory, which is better for intensive engineering work and multitasking. Its larger screen size is preferable for viewing detailed work but less portable compared to the smaller HP 14". The HP, however, is lighter and has a higher portability score, making it convenient to carry around, but its smaller storage and memory might limit performance for demanding tasks. Both have similar battery life and are not suitable for intensive gaming, but for general use, the HP's build and heat management are superior, while the Gateway provides higher general performance. Choose the Gateway for more power and screen space, or the HP for better portability and build quality. Give Feedback

The HP 14" Laptop has a better screen than the Gateway 15.6" for general use, and engineering and design.
The Gateway 15.6" and the HP 14" Laptop have screens that are adequate for everyday activities like web browsing and video streaming, as their panel type, resolution, and brightness meet the basic needs for such tasks. However, for engineering and design work, which often requires precise color representation and a wide color gamut, both laptops only offer fair performance as they don't fully cover professional color spaces like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB. When it comes to 3D and gaming, their screens fall short due to lower refresh rates, which diminish the smoothness and responsiveness needed for these high-paced activities, while their resolution and panel type are only marginally suitable.

How the Gateway 15.6" and the HP 14" Laptop compare to other laptops
"Some concessions have to be made when shopping for a budget laptop. Walmart's Gateway Ultra Slim laptops succeeds on the affordability front and delivers serviceable specs and good battery life, though it's hard to claim it's the best (or even particularly good) at any particular aspect. Its build quality, especially the touchpad, is mediocre, and its performance is decent but doesn't lead the way. The Gateway does undercut the cost of some competitors and offers ample storage with good connectivity, so it's not to be ignored."
"This feels like an ideal laptop for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on a laptop and isn’t too bothered by things like build quality or construction. It’s a laptop that will be used to pay bills, keep track of expenses, do some online shopping, and will be tucked away in a spare bedroom/home office. It’s an appliance designed to do a job without fuss. It’s not a premium experience—the materials do feel a little cheap, the display won’t exactly wow you, and the battery life is nothing to write home about, especially if you’ve used more expensive devices. But overall it’s not too shabby, especially for the price."
