Considering your needs, the Gateway 15.6" offers a capable processor for general use, ample memory, and an adequate display, making it a good choice for everyday tasks or business use. However, if you require higher performance for tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, or engineering applications, the Gigabyte G5 with its more powerful processor and superior graphics card will better serve your needs, although it may be slightly more expensive. The Gigabyte G5's backlit keyboard and expandable storage also offer additional convenience for gaming or intensive workloads. It is important to note that the Gigabyte G5 may have shorter battery life and could be less portable due to its weight. Give Feedback

The Gigabyte G5 has a better screen than the Gateway 15.6" for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, both the Gateway 15.6" and the Gigabyte G5 have adequate resolution and brightness for everyday tasks, but their display panels may not offer the wide viewing angles and color clarity that higher-end screens provide. In engineering and design, where accurate color representation is crucial, these laptops may fall short due to limited coverage of professional color gamuts like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB. For gaming and 3D applications, their screens lack the high refresh rates needed for smooth visuals, and the resolution and panel type don't deliver the premium experience required for these demanding graphics scenarios.

How the Gateway 15.6" and the Gigabyte G5 compare to other laptops
"Some concessions have to be made when shopping for a budget laptop. Walmart's Gateway Ultra Slim laptops succeeds on the affordability front and delivers serviceable specs and good battery life, though it's hard to claim it's the best (or even particularly good) at any particular aspect. Its build quality, especially the touchpad, is mediocre, and its performance is decent but doesn't lead the way. The Gateway does undercut the cost of some competitors and offers ample storage with good connectivity, so it's not to be ignored."
"The Gigabyte G5 KE is a midrange gaming laptop that checks most boxes. Gigabyte makes good use of the Core i5-12500H and RTX 3060 Laptop GPU combo, and we find no untoward issues with overall performance. The dual-fan quad-heatpipe cooling arrangement does well to ensure that the underlying hardware doesn't throttle under load. That being said, the display is below par when compared to 2023 standards, especially when competing devices."
