If better performance for tasks like intensive engineering, 3D rendering, or machine learning is needed, the Dell XPS 13 Plus is a strong choice due to its higher-end processor and increased RAM, but it comes with a higher price. The MSI Prestige 14 has a lower cost and features an adequate processor and RAM for general use and some light engineering tasks, but it may not handle intensive work as well. The XPS 13 Plus has better display quality with higher resolution and color accuracy, making it ideal for professionals who need precision in visual work, but if portability and budget are more important, the Prestige 14 is lighter and less expensive with reasonable display quality for everyday tasks. Both have good build quality and are suitable for general use, but for tasks that demand high performance and a premium display, the XPS 13 Plus is superior, at the expense of cost and slightly less portability. The Dell XPS 13 Plus is very good for general use, while the MSI Prestige 14 is good.
The Dell XPS 13 Plus is highly regarded for general use due to its superior CPU, double the RAM for multitasking, and a higher-quality OLED screen, which leads to vivid colors and sharper images, though it comes in a slightly smaller size than the MSI Prestige 14. On the other hand, the MSI Prestige 14 offers a good balance with a capable CPU, sufficient RAM for everyday tasks, and a standard IPS screen, all in a very portable package with a decent battery life, albeit less than the Dell.

The Dell XPS 13 Plus has a better screen than the MSI Prestige 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Dell XPS 13 Plus has a high-resolution display with impressive brightness and color accuracy, providing excellent visual clarity for intricate engineering tasks and appealing to design professionals with its expansive color range, but its lower refresh rate may disappoint gamers used to smoother visuals in fast-paced games. The MSI Prestige 14 offers a good balance of resolution and brightness that suits everyday tasks and light design work but may lack some color accuracy for demanding design applications, and like the Dell, it's not optimized for gaming due to a standard refresh rate. Generally, when weighing options for usage in engineering or professional design, prioritize color accuracy and resolution over refresh rates; for gaming, seek out higher refresh rates even if it means compromising on some aspects of color accuracy and resolution.

How the Dell XPS 13 Plus and the MSI Prestige 14 compare to other laptops
"The XPS 13 Plus is powerful, but has its drawbacks. Dell did not only update the processor generation, but also decided to offer two completely different models from now on. The XPS 13 Plus gets the faster Intel Alder Lake-P chips, and the Core i7-1260P in our review unit offers good performance figures. However, the device once again shows the problems of the current Intel CPUs, because the high performance requires a lot of power. This affects the battery runtime as well as temperatures, so the new model (even with the Optimized power profile) is louder than the older model."
"The MSI Prestige 14” is excellent for productivity and business use cases, but it is not ideal for creators or visual content editors. The Prestige was able to power through days of email, spreadsheets, and text documents without breaking a sweat and was a joy to use. The additional ports were a breath of fresh air, as most laptops seem to be moving towards just Thunderbolt ports. The security options made signing in effortless, with two quick, more secure, and faster options than even the most complex alphanumeric passcode."
