If you prioritize portability and long battery life for tasks like web browsing, office work, and media consumption, the Dell XPS 13 Plus is more suitable as it is lighter, has a longer battery life, and a higher quality screen. For gaming, 3D rendering, or machine learning tasks, the MSI GF65 Thin, with its dedicated graphics card and higher refresh rate display, is better equipped despite being heavier with a shorter battery life. The Dell has a higher resolution touch screen which might be better for creative work while the MSI costs less but falls short in screen quality and color accuracy for professional photo/video editing. The Dell XPS 13 Plus is very good for general use, while the MSI GF65 Thin is only fair.
The Dell XPS 13 Plus excels in general use due to its high-resolution OLED screen, substantial RAM and CPU power for smooth multitasking, and better portability with longer battery life, making it suitable for a variety of tasks on the go. Conversely, the MSI GF65 Thin, despite having a dedicated graphics card for gaming and other GPU-intensive activities, offers a lower screen quality and smaller RAM, which means slower performance in general use, and it is less portable with a heavier build and shorter battery life.

The Dell XPS 13 Plus has a better screen than the MSI GF65 Thin for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the Dell XPS 13 Plus offers a high-resolution screen with superior brightness and vivid colors, which makes it stand out, while the MSI GF65 Thin provides an adequate display that doesn't quite match the Dell's clarity or brightness. When it comes to engineering and design, the Dell XPS 13 Plus excels with its wide color gamut coverage, offering accurate color representation for professional work, but the MSI GF65 doesn't offer as wide a color range, making it less suitable for these tasks. However, in gaming and 3D applications where high refresh rates are crucial, both the Dell XPS 13 Plus and MSI GF65 Thin fall short, lacking the rapid screen refresh capabilities that gamers and 3D designers look for to ensure smooth motion rendering.

How the Dell XPS 13 Plus and the MSI GF65 Thin compare to other laptops
"The XPS 13 Plus is powerful, but has its drawbacks. Dell did not only update the processor generation, but also decided to offer two completely different models from now on. The XPS 13 Plus gets the faster Intel Alder Lake-P chips, and the Core i7-1260P in our review unit offers good performance figures. However, the device once again shows the problems of the current Intel CPUs, because the high performance requires a lot of power. This affects the battery runtime as well as temperatures, so the new model (even with the Optimized power profile) is louder than the older model."
"The MSI GF65 Thin offers a GeForce RTX 3060 on a budget. The MSI GF65 is a relatively inexpensive RTX 3060 laptop and, perhaps not coincidentally, it also comes with a slower-than-average RTX 3060 GPU. Other laptops we've tested thus far with the same GPU are about 10 to 15 percent faster. CPU performance is also slightly slower than average unless if users decide to enable Cooler Boost mode. Colors, black-white response times, Thunderbolt, and DisplayPort are either average or completely omitted. Gamers who want to maximize performance-per-dollar without sacrificing RAM or SSD upgradeability will find the lightweight MSI GF65 attractive."
