Considering your needs, the Dell XPS 13 Plus is more expensive but offers a higher-resolution OLED touch screen, more RAM, and a better processor, ideal for performance-intensive tasks like 3D work and engineering. Its portability and build quality are high, though battery life is average. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i is cheaper, with longer battery life and it's slightly heavier. It has an IPS screen with a lower resolution and no touch capability, sufficient for general use and some engineering tasks but not optimal for color-sensitive work. Both have similar portability, but the Dell has an edge in performance for demanding tasks. Give Feedback

How the Dell XPS 13 Plus and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i compare to other laptops
"The XPS 13 Plus is powerful, but has its drawbacks. Dell did not only update the processor generation, but also decided to offer two completely different models from now on. The XPS 13 Plus gets the faster Intel Alder Lake-P chips, and the Core i7-1260P in our review unit offers good performance figures. However, the device once again shows the problems of the current Intel CPUs, because the high performance requires a lot of power. This affects the battery runtime as well as temperatures, so the new model (even with the Optimized power profile) is louder than the older model."
"Among Lenovo's multiple laptop brands, the IdeaPad family is decidedly the one designed for consumers: people who want decent performance at a reasonable price. Consider, then, this laptop a paragon for the pickier members of that crowd. With a 14-inch touch-enabled display, a comfortable keyboard, an Evo-certified Intel Core i7 11th Generation CPU, and the latest Windows 11 operating system, the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro ultraportable ($1,199 as tested) is a slick mainstream machine at a bit of a premium price, and quite capable for everyday tasks."
