For better performance in general use and especially in engineering or 3D/machine learning tasks, the Dell XPS 13 Plus is the superior choice, with more storage and memory. It also has a higher quality display with better color accuracy, making it suitable for creative work. However, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" is a budget-friendly option that, while less powerful, offers reasonable performance for typical usage and is lighter on the wallet. The tradeoff is in the lower screen quality and less robust performance for intensive tasks. If you frequently travel, consider the IdeaPad's longer battery life, though the Dell is slightly more portable due to its smaller size and lesser weight. Give Feedback

The Dell XPS 13 Plus boasts a high-resolution screen with vibrant colors and brightness, making it excellent for tasks that require detail, such as engineering and design work, yet the lower refresh rate may hinder the experience when using it for gaming or 3D applications. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3's screen, with moderate resolution and brightness, provides an adequate viewing experience for everyday tasks and professional work, but may not satisfy users needing high color accuracy or those engaged in content creation. Gaming and 3D work are less ideal on this device due to the average refresh rate and less impressive display characteristics compared to specialized gaming laptops.

How the Dell XPS 13 Plus and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" compare to other laptops
"The XPS 13 Plus is powerful, but has its drawbacks. Dell did not only update the processor generation, but also decided to offer two completely different models from now on. The XPS 13 Plus gets the faster Intel Alder Lake-P chips, and the Core i7-1260P in our review unit offers good performance figures. However, the device once again shows the problems of the current Intel CPUs, because the high performance requires a lot of power. This affects the battery runtime as well as temperatures, so the new model (even with the Optimized power profile) is louder than the older model."
"The low-priced IdeaPad 3 14 delivers on core functionality. Lenovo's IdeaPad 3 14 meets all the basic requirements for an inexpensive office laptop. The matte IPS display is bright enough, the performance is high for the class, and the input devices are rock solid. In addition, the mostly quiet operation including the useful performance modes, cool surface temperatures, easy maintainability as well as expandable working and mass storage all contribute to the IdeaPad 3 14's value proposition."
