The Dell Latitude 14 7490 offers a more budget-friendly price, which can be a deciding factor if you're looking to save money. It comes with an older processor and basic integrated graphics, making it suitable for general use and business tasks. The screen is standard full HD, which could be enough for everyday productivity. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro, while more expensive, offers a newer processor, better integrated graphics, and a higher-resolution display with a taller aspect ratio, beneficial for creative work and multitasking. It's lighter and thinner, enhancing portability, but the higher cost might be harder to justify if these advanced features aren't necessary for your use. Choose the Dell for budget-conscious general use, or the Lenovo for more demanding tasks and better display quality. Give Feedback

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is good for engineering and design, while the Dell Latitude 14 7490 is only fair.
The Dell Latitude 14 7490, with an older CPU and standard graphics, is outpaced by the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro which offers a newer CPU with better integrated graphics suitable for more demanding engineering tasks and design work; additionally, the Slim 7i Pro features a higher resolution screen which is advantageous for detailed design work, although this may come with a tradeoff in portability due to the larger, higher quality display. While both laptops have the same amount of RAM, the CPU and GPU differences, alongside the superior screen of the Lenovo, largely contribute to its higher aptitude for engineering and design use compared to the Dell Latitude.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro has a better screen than the Dell Latitude 14 7490 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and content creation.
For general use, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro's high resolution and brightness offer crisp and vibrant visuals, while its panel type ensures wide viewing angles, making it superior to the Dell Latitude. In engineering and design, the Lenovo's excellent color coverage with high DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB support translates to more accurate color representation, which professionals need for precision work, outshining the Dell's fair capabilities. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short due to their lower refresh rates, even though their decent resolutions and panel types provide a passable visual experience.

How the Dell Latitude 14 7490 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro compare to other laptops
"The Dell Latitude 7490's got the speed you need (and then some), a keyboard that's comfortable enough for writing all day long and a battery that supports a full 8-hour workday. If only the display were brighter and it managed heat better. If you need every minute of battery life you can get, the extended-battery version of the Lenovo ThinkPad T480 lasts 8 hours longer than the Latitude 7490, but its display is much less colorful."
"The main selling point of the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro versus a regular IdeaPad Slim 7 is its faster Core H-series CPU. In reality, the Core i7-11370H is only marginally faster than the U-series Core i7-1165G7 to the point where most users are not likely to notice the benefits. The slight performance uptick comes at the cost of slightly higher power consumption as well meaning owners will have to deal with potentially warmer temperatures or louder fans to compensate. Unless if you happen to be a power user, then the regular non-Pro model will be more than enough. Once you go 90 Hz, you can't go back."
