Consider the Dell Latitude 14 7490 if you value portability and battery life, as it's lighter and has a higher build quality, often providing a better balance between performance and mobility. The HP Pavilion 15, despite being somewhat more expensive, offers a larger storage capacity and screen size, which could benefit those who prioritize multimedia consumption and storage over portability. Both seem suited for general use; however, for intensive tasks such as 3D work, machine learning, or gaming, you may need to look beyond these models for more powerful dedicated graphics and CPU capabilities. Henry T. Casey | April 2018
"The Dell Latitude 7490's got the speed you need (and then some), a keyboard that's comfortable enough for writing all day long and a battery that supports a full 8-hour workday. If only the display were brighter and it managed heat better. If you need every minute of battery life you can get, the extended-battery version of the Lenovo ThinkPad T480 lasts 8 hours longer than the Latitude 7490, but its display is much less colorful."

Alex Cox | August 2022
"The HP Pavilion 15 carries a fair amount of power and a sharp display in its handsome slimline shell. It's not perfect, but it's a hard worker. This is wonderfully designed and totes a heck of a lot of desktop power, with the added benefit of a decent webcam and a full-sized keyboard. If you're getting down to business on a budget, it's a great fit."
