When deciding between the Dell Latitude 14 7490 and the Gigabyte A5, consider your needs. If your priority is to save money and have a highly portable device, the Latitude, being less expensive and generally lighter, may better suit everyday tasks and business use. However, if you require high performance for tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, or gaming, investing in the Gigabyte A5 could be beneficial despite the higher cost, as it typically offers more powerful hardware. The A5's higher performance often results in shorter battery life and less portability, so weigh whether performance or convenience is your priority. Give Feedback

The Gigabyte A5 is good for engineering and design, while the Dell Latitude 14 7490 is only fair.
The Dell Latitude 14 7490 has an older Intel CPU and integrated graphics, making it less powerful for demanding engineering software compared to the Gigabyte A5, which has a newer AMD CPU and dedicated Nvidia graphics, offering better performance for design tasks. Although the Dell has a slightly brighter screen, the Gigabyte's superior screen color coverage will benefit design work, but it is also heavier and less portable than the Dell, which may be a consideration for users on the go.

The Gigabyte A5 has a better screen than the Dell Latitude 14 7490 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, the Dell Latitude's screen provides clarity and visibility with its resolution and brightness, making it suitable for everyday tasks; however, the Gigabyte A5's likewise respectable resolution and brightness offer a pleasant viewing experience for casual users. Engineering and design professionals would appreciate the wider color gamuts on both laptops, as they ensure accurate color representation crucial for their work, with neither laptop giving a definitive edge in this scenario. Gamers and 3D designers, though, will find the lower refresh rates on both models suboptimal for their needs, preferring screens that offer smoother motion and better responsiveness.

How the Dell Latitude 14 7490 and the Gigabyte A5 compare to other laptops
"The Dell Latitude 7490's got the speed you need (and then some), a keyboard that's comfortable enough for writing all day long and a battery that supports a full 8-hour workday. If only the display were brighter and it managed heat better. If you need every minute of battery life you can get, the extended-battery version of the Lenovo ThinkPad T480 lasts 8 hours longer than the Latitude 7490, but its display is much less colorful."
"Ignoring price, the Gigabyte A5 has a hard time against the similarly fast competition. Besides the loud noise in 3D mode (performance mode), the high temperature development of the components should be mentioned on the downside. Despite the relatively thick case, the laptop gets very warm and loud under load, which does not exactly speak for the cooling system. The plastic surfaces look rather cheap and also tend to rattle. In most other disciplines - be it the input devices, the screen, the connectivity or the battery runtime - the Gigabyte laptop does not stand out from the crowd, neither positively nor negatively. However, those who primarily pay attention to the price-performance ratio will get a pretty good offer with the Gigabyte A5."
