If you require a more portable and business-oriented laptop with a higher build quality, the Dell Latitude 5430 is the better choice despite its higher price. It has a smaller, more travel-friendly screen size and a modestly better keyboard, making it suitable for general use and some engineering tasks. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" offers a larger display with slightly better screen colors and an included numeric keypad, at a lower price, making it a good option for general use and entertainment but with less favorable portability due to its larger size and heavier weight. Neither laptop is intended for intensive gaming or high-end 3D tasks. Give Feedback

The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" has a better screen than the Dell Latitude 5430 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
The Dell Latitude 5430's display may not be optimal for gaming or 3D work due to poorer refresh rates which are crucial for smooth visuals in high-motion scenarios. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" with its good screen quality is likely better at displaying vibrant colors and crisp details that benefit engineering and design tasks thanks to a wider color gamut. However, both laptops have adequate resolution and panel quality for everyday tasks, but may fall short for professional creative work or high-end gaming that demand more specialized display features.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" and Dell Latitude 5430 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The Dell Latitude 5430 and Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" are both considered fair for gaming and 3D because they feature integrated graphics — the Dell with Intel Iris Xe and the Lenovo with AMD Vega 7 — which can handle moderate gaming demands but are not as powerful as dedicated GPUs. Furthermore, they both have a screen refresh rate of 60Hz, which is adequate for casual gaming but may not provide the smoothest experience for fast-paced games or high-end 3D applications.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" and Dell Latitude 5430 are both only fair for engineering and design.
The Dell Latitude 5430 offers a capable Intel CPU with integrated graphics suitable for moderate engineering tasks, but it's smaller screen may not be ideal for design work where larger displays are preferred, like the 17.3" screen found on the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 which enhances visual workspace but makes the laptop less portable. The IdeaPad also comes with double the storage but has a less powerful AMD CPU with integrated graphics, which could limit performance in resource-intensive engineering applications.

How the Dell Latitude 5430 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
