If you prioritize high performance for tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming, and you're okay with a higher price and less portability due to heavier weight, consider the MSI Raider GE77Hx. On the other hand, for general use with good enough performance for lighter engineering tasks at a lower price and better portability, the Dell Inspiron 16 5635 would be suitable. The Dell offers longer battery life and a higher portability score but has lower performance scores for demanding tasks compared to the MSI, which excels in performance but has a shorter battery life and a bulkier build. The MSI Raider GE77Hx is very good for gaming and AI, while the Dell Inspiron 16 5635 is only fair.
The Dell Inspiron 16 5635 has a more modest integrated AMD GPU and a standard 60Hz screen refresh rate, which is enough for casual gaming and entry-level 3D work. In contrast, the MSI Raider GE77Hx boasts a high-end Nvidia RTX GPU and a 240Hz screen refresh rate, offering a superior gaming and 3D graphics experience, especially for fast-paced games and complex renderings.

The MSI Raider GE77Hx is very good for engineering and design, while the Dell Inspiron 16 5635 is good.
The Dell Inspiron 16 5635, with its AMD Ryzen CPU and integrated Vega graphics, provides a balance of power and efficiency, suitable for engineering and design purposes, but the MSI Raider GE77Hx stands out for very good performance in similar tasks due to its more potent Intel i7 processor and dedicated Nvidia RTX GPU, which offer higher processing capabilities particularly beneficial for more demanding engineering software and complex design work. However, the Inspiron 16 is lighter and more portable with a significantly quieter operation, while the Raider GE77Hx is heavier and less portable, which is a consideration for users who need to move around often.

The MSI Raider GE77Hx has a better screen than the Dell Inspiron 16 5635 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
The Dell Inspiron's screen offers adequate clarity and brightness for everyday tasks and professional applications that don't demand precise color accuracy, but its lower refresh rate might disappoint gamers looking for smooth visuals. On the other hand, the MSI Raider's display provides vibrant and accurate colors which benefit engineering and design work where color detail is critical, yet it also falls short for gaming due to a less-than-ideal refresh rate. While both have screens that can handle general use and detailed design work, neither is optimal for the high-framerate experience that gamers and 3D designers expect.

How the Dell Inspiron 16 5635 and the MSI Raider GE77Hx compare to other laptops
"Compared to the previous year’s Inspiron, Dell upgraded the screen aspect ratio on this generation, but also transitioned to a more minimalistic centered keyboard flanked by up-firing speakers. The 16-inch screen is huge plus and I really appreciate the extra real estate without sacrificing the footprint much. This year’s model is a little larger than last, though, as the former model was already very small for a 15 incher."
"The MSI Raider GE77 offers a lot of power for a lot of money. The main components consist of a Core i9-12900HX CPU, a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU (175 watts TGP, 16 GB VRAM), and 64 GB of RAM, which makes for a high overall performance level. The GeForce GPU in particular scores some of the highest scores we have seen from this chip. Both the CPU and the GPU are able to run at continuously high clock speeds. The relatively high heat and noise emissions match our expectations for this device class. With approximately 5.5 to 6.5 hours, the battery life is good for a powerful 4K laptop."
