The Dell Inspiron 16 5625 is good for general use, while the MSI GF65 Thin is only fair.
The Dell Inspiron 16 5625 caters better to general use due to its higher RAM, a processor suitable for varied tasks, better screen resolution and quality with a larger screen size, and touch capability, contributing to an overall balanced performance and user experience. In contrast, even though the MSI GF65 Thin offers a high-quality GPU for gaming and a good build, its lower RAM, lesser screen quality, and mixed feedback on heat management and noise make it less ideal for a versatile daily computing experience.

The MSI GF65 Thin and Dell Inspiron 16 5625 are both only fair for gaming and AI, though the MSI GF65 Thin is somewhat better.
The Dell Inspiron 16 5625, equipped with AMD Ryzen integrated graphics, offers a fair gaming experience with a 60Hz screen refresh rate, while the MSI GF65 Thin, with its dedicated Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU, steps up performance with a higher 144Hz refresh rate, making it more suitable for smooth gaming and 3D applications. However, the Dell model has a higher resolution and IPS screen for better general screen quality, but the MSI shines in gaming with more frames per second due to its superior GPU and refresh rate.

The Dell Inspiron 16 5625 has a better screen than the MSI GF65 Thin for software development, and content creation, while the MSI GF65 Thin has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
When considering a laptop for general use, the Dell Inspiron 16 5625 and MSI GF65 Thin both offer screens that are satisfactory due to their decent resolution and brightness, but they may not have the most vibrant panel types like IPS, which can offer better color accuracy and viewing angles. For engineering and design tasks, the screens on these laptops provide adequate detail, but professionals might find the color reproduction lacking because they don't fully cover professional color gamuts such as DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB. As for 3D and gaming, the refresh rate on both is lower than desired for fluid motion, and while resolution and panel types are serviceable, they aren't top-tier, which can detract from the immersive experience.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Dell Inspiron 16 5625 to be good for engineering and design, while the MSI GF65 Thin is only fair.
The Dell Inspiron 16 5625, with its AMD Ryzen 7 5825U processor and integrated Vega 8 graphics, offers a solid balance of performance and screen quality for engineering and design thanks to its higher RAM capacity and sharper screen resolution. On the other hand, the MSI GF65 Thin's Intel i5 processor and dedicated Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU provide more graphics power for demanding tasks, but with half the RAM and a standard full HD screen, it is more suited for performance-centric uses where high-end GPU is prioritized over screen space and RAM.

How the Dell Inspiron 16 5625 and the MSI GF65 Thin compare to other laptops
"I think there is fair value in the Inspiron 16 this year. Very little has changed with the laptop and my opinion hasn’t really changed either. In other words, I like it. Overall, I think the pros far outweigh the cons of this laptop and the price is certainly justifiable. I found this to be a great typer and I could potentially work all day on this machine, provided I don’t need a graphics card."
"The MSI GF65 Thin offers a GeForce RTX 3060 on a budget. The MSI GF65 is a relatively inexpensive RTX 3060 laptop and, perhaps not coincidentally, it also comes with a slower-than-average RTX 3060 GPU. Other laptops we've tested thus far with the same GPU are about 10 to 15 percent faster. CPU performance is also slightly slower than average unless if users decide to enable Cooler Boost mode. Colors, black-white response times, Thunderbolt, and DisplayPort are either average or completely omitted. Gamers who want to maximize performance-per-dollar without sacrificing RAM or SSD upgradeability will find the lightweight MSI GF65 attractive."
