If affordability is your priority and your tasks include everyday activities like browsing, office work, and media consumption, the Dell Inspiron may serve you well and save you money. However, if you need high performance for gaming, 3D modeling, machine learning, or demanding engineering software, the HP Omen is designed for those tasks, offering better graphics and processing power, at the expense of being more costly and less portable. The Omen has a shorter battery life than the Dell, so frequent travelers or those away from power sources may prefer the longer-lasting Dell. Choose based on your primary use and budget constraints. The HP Omen 16 is very good for engineering and design, while the Dell Inspiron 15 3530 is only fair.
The HP Omen 16 outperforms the Dell Inspiron 15 3530 for engineering and design use primarily due to its superior CPU, graphics (including a dedicated Nvidia GPU), and higher screen quality, which are very important factors for such tasks; the Omen has a notably brighter screen and greater color coverage which is beneficial for design work. While both laptops have similar RAM amounts, the Inspiron is lighter and quieter which makes it more portable and less intrusive in quiet environments, but its performance is less suited for intensive tasks typically associated with engineering and design.

The HP Omen 16 has a better screen than the Dell Inspiron 15 3530 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
When considering screen quality for general use, the Dell Inspiron 15 3530's display might offer enough resolution and brightness for everyday tasks like browsing and watching videos, but it may fall short in vibrancy and sharpness compared to the HP Omen 16, which provides better color accuracy and brightness, enhancing the viewing experience for both casual and more demanding users. For engineering and design, the HP Omen 16 likely outshines the Dell Inspiron with superior color coverage in critical color gamuts such as DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB, which is crucial for professionals who require precise color representation for their work. However, for gaming and 3D applications, despite the good resolution and quality panel types both laptops have, they may not offer the high refresh rates that gamers seek for smooth, responsive gameplay, which can be a significant drawback for users focused on these activities.

How the Dell Inspiron 15 3530 and the HP Omen 16 compare to other laptops
"The Omen 16 has proven to be a fairly good mid-range gaming laptop with all-around improvements compared to the Omen 15. The high overall performance level across all use cases, the long battery life, and the good FHD display constitute the main advantages of this HP laptop. The main drawbacks are the faulty touchpad (one-off?) and the high latencies that can be observed even after just opening the browser. Furthermore, the useless, preinstalled 30-day trial versions of various software also fall under the category "unnecessary"."
