The Dell Inspiron 14 Plus offers a balance of performance and value, with a lower midrange price and robust general use capabilities, thanks to its Intel i7 processor and 16GB of RAM. It's a solid choice for everyday tasks and moderate engineering work, with a good keyboard and build quality. However, its gaming and 3D rendering performance is limited by the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. The screen, while not the brightest, has a high resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio that's great for productivity. Battery life is decent, and the laptop is fairly portable, though not the lightest. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 16, with its midrange price, provides an exceptional OLED display with superior color accuracy and brightness, making it ideal for content creators and those who prioritize screen quality. The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor, combined with the Adreno 750 GPU, offers better performance in 3D rendering and machine learning tasks compared to the Dell. It also has a touchscreen and a higher refresh rate, which enhances the visual experience for fast-moving content. The Samsung is more future-proof with its superior port selection, including Thunderbolt ports, and it's lighter and thinner, enhancing portability. However, it's often significantly more expensive and may not offer the same level of performance for traditional engineering tasks as the Dell. Additionally, its battery life is excellent, lasting longer than the Dell's. In summary, if you prioritize a superior display, touchscreen capability, and better performance in 3D tasks within a more portable design, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 16 is the way to go, despite its higher price. If you're looking for a more cost-effective solution for general use and some engineering tasks, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus is a strong contender with a good balance of features and performance. Allen Ngo | August 2022
"The Dell Inspiron 14 Plus is for power users on a budget. If you're looking to maximize CPU and GPU performance on your next 14-inch laptop, then consider the pricier Razer Blade 14 or Asus Zephyrus G14. If you're looking for a thin-and-light 14-inch Ultrabook, then the Asus Zenbook 14 or LG Gram 14 may be better options. For the best of both worlds, however, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7420 rides a fine line between extreme performance and portability while keeping prices at reasonable levels. Frequent travelers who rely on performance beyond what the Core U-series and integrated graphics series can offer will find the Dell to be a solid solution."
